By SG do you mean Special Protection Group i.e. the people protecting VIPS or Special Group of SFF?

If you meant SPG, then I don't think so as SFF also has FN Herstal in their tool kit besides the SPG.

Bhai ye kafi Purani SVD ha with 1PN58 scope. Army ma sabse Taza Maal Dogra (SCOUTS) , kumaon or Garhwal (SCOUTS) ke pass ata ha for being the frontier units.

it seems to be preety heavy configuration, feels like not good for special operations or para troopers..
better go with hemet mounted night vision and keep red dot on gun.
only for snipers this sight could have worked.

It is an old and outdated night scope,it was very good for its time with range of 400m for man size target and 3.5x magnification with no infrared illumination.Now much better scope are available ,which are much smaller,would try to get an update.
That particular scope is 1PN34 NSPU.

First time I have seen the PM's vehicle with its emergency lights on in India and the first time I have ever seen the X5 escort vehicles with their emergency lights on:

Portable Shield. Briefcase opens up to form a shield to protect VVIP

It is a collapsed kevlar sheild.

Its basically a unit which has the best of the best Para SF operators.

Some fanboys in another forum claim Marcos to be a part of this unit and NSG but this is complete bs!

Although the Marcos were deployed North of Kashmir in a lake bordering China.

What i fail to understand is the purpose of this Special Unit as 9 Para conducts all the operations in Kashmir and the SG was not even a part of the surgical strike.

We don't hear about SG operations. That does not mean that they don't do anything.

Till recently we did not know that SG was part of operation bluestar.

1. SG is NOT a para unit. It even has non Para members - While all Paras are HALO/HAHO qualified not neccecary for SG
2. SG is NOT part of Army Orbat and hence out of army chain of command
3. SG Comes under the Cabinet Secretariat. - Which mean it Answers to PMO
4. Practically SG acts as the Paramilitary wing of our Intelligence Agencies.
5. They were the operating arm of the TSD before they were shut down
6. No unit is more or less elite than another. Their Taskings are completely different.

Regarding SFF in kashmir:
One Squadron is responsible for counter-terrorism duties, with a team in a constant state of alert. The four squadrons rotate through this role on a six-monthly basis.

SFF in J&K:

The photo posted in previous post of negev LMG is also from kashmir.


Regarding SG would try to ask.

I was talking about SFF as an organization. Regarding blog ,I have read it.

In its early days SFF was not liked by the Army (inter service rivalry)1963.To prove SFF's worth, the Inspector General sent 120 men from the SFF for a field exercise, codenamed Garuda.Army was impressed by them and this changed its view regarding them.

In 1975 a new rule pertaining to the SFF was issued, this prohibited the SFF from being deployed to within 10 km of the Indo-Chinese border unless under explicit instructions. This came about after several incidents in which SFF was found to be conducting unsanctioned cross-border raids and intelligence operations.
