Good catch.USAF B-52, don't know what it was doing in India.
BHUBANESWAR: To study the biological and geographic parameters of Chilika lagoon and its basin eco-system, the Space Application Centre of ISRO with support from NASA is all set to carry out a hyperspectral study next week, a first of its kind in India.
A special aircraft will be flown in from the US, mounted with the device called Airborne Visual Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS), for this purpose. The aircraft will reach Bhubaneswar on December 26. The aircraft will be parked at Biju Patnaik International Airport and will make four sorties a day during the study period.
Did we lease few B 52, i remember US gave us special mission aircraft C 46 in the past that is vaguely mentioned in IAF inventory.USAF B-52, don't know what it was doing in India.
Nope, India has not leased any such thing.Did we lease few B 52, i remember US gave us special mission aircraft C 46 in the past that is vaguely mentioned in IAF inventory.
It is now retired and stands in Sarsawa, if i remember correctly.
Any video of the same?.........................Anyone saw how RR blasted the entire concrete House in Baramulla today frying 2 Jihadis inaide ?
After suffering the casualties of two brave SF officers few months back it seems Army has change the strategy. That encounter went for more than 24 hours.
Why taking risk to clear the building by each room, just blow it, also Mi 35 and BMP 2 are sitting idle since IPKF.
I remember the bodies of Jihaidis during Arnia encounter torn apart by BMP cannon.
Also the name of BMP - Akrosh (Fury)

It's not a change in doctrine per se, the RR have done this multiple times over the years. However, the main Indian CT doctrine is "minimal force" and to try and capture the terrorists alive. like it or loathe it this is the enshrined doctrine and it isn't changing anytime soon. Where this isn't possible they will engage the terrorists with the aim to reduce any potential damage to civlians and their property. Where possible the destruction of the building around the pigs may happen but as a last resort and if no secondary damage will be caused. In Pompore where the SFs died a few months back this wasn't possible due to the size/construction of the building.Anyone saw how RR blasted the entire concrete House in Baramulla today frying 2 Jihadis inaide ?

Places like Baramullah, Tral can hardly be termed as Urban, most of the the encounter take place in open grounds, forests and villages. Also, Kashmiri villages are sparsely populated. It's not a change in doctrine per se, the RR have done this multiple times over the years. + Mi-35/attack helos are never used for urban CT ops by Indian Securty Forces and never have been.

You can't compare Indian CT ops with US ops in Iraq. Taking out any particular terrorist with light fire from copters like Apache or LCH is another thing and bringing in heavy fighter like Mi35 is another ball game.Places like Baramullah, Tral can hardly be termed as Urban, most of the the encounter take place in open grounds, forests and villages. Also, Kashmiri villages are sparsely populated.
Capt Pawan was martyred when army was forced to clear a huge building, while terrorists fire from Windows, they even had SVD, a perfect salvo from Mi 35 would've had eliminated terrorists hiding behind concrete walls.
US successfully used Apaches in anti terror ops in thickly populated cities like Fallujah Iraq.
Indian Mi 35 have similar features like Helmet control Gun turret and Day night sight with TV and FLIR.
It can comb much larger areas compared with ground troops day/night in even in thick forest cover of Kashmir.
However Army also use ATV in Kashmir.
Sorry mate but that's a bad example to bring up. The US was fighting in a foreign land with little to no regard for the local population or local infrastructure. India's CT doctrine is minimum force and to win "hearts and minds" there is a reason they take a very soft approach in JK and the NE. It isn't for a lack of firepower but because of their CT doctrine.US successfully used Apaches in anti terror ops in thickly populated cities like Fallujah Iraq.
I'm not disuputing that but that's irrelevent, it is the CT doctrine that means these assets aren't employed.Indian Mi 35 have similar features like Helmet control Gun turret and Day night sight with TV and FLIR.
For such purposes UAVs or ALH with FLIR are used.It can comb much larger areas compared with ground troops day/night in even in thick forest cover of Kashmir.

You cannot compare American Ops in Iraq that with Indian Amry operation in KASHMIR.Places like Baramullah, Tral can hardly be termed as Urban, most of the the encounter take place in open grounds, forests and villages. Also, Kashmiri villages are sparsely populated.
