Have these new equipements like Kelvar helmets, Level 4 bullet proof jackets, knee pads, hands free, etc been provided to majority , if not all the commandos?

Or are these only for parade and show offs, and during a real operation, they wud have 26/11 kinda equipments?

It's for all SAG guys for sure. It will take time for each and every operator to be at this lives but they should be very soon (months).

This isn't the first time we've seen the NSG in such immpressive gear:

if you haven't already, I'd reccomend reading:

NSG focuses on new-age commandos - The Hindu

Super Black Cat commandos by 2015, says NSG chief - India - DNA

New-age commandos with high-end weapons for NSG-|-Decrypted Matrix | of | the Mind

This is all part of the 2010-15 NSG modenrisation plan.

>Arjun v/s T-72
>LCA v/s Mig-21

Both the above Russian products been around for decades, no?

Right question may be "Wat function can the Sherpa perform which cant also be done by TATA LSV or BTR ?"

TATA will likely improve over time but to say they can compete with those who have been in this defence game for decades right out of the box is bordering on stupidity.

Now, time for some better weapons: KRISS Super V should be the main stay for the SAG.

I'd like to see info on training and doctrine/operations as well as weapons and high-tech toys, understanding that much of that would be classified..

I'd prefer them to go with the MP-7
MP7 may better than MP5 ,but not better than P90 in termms of punching power.More over instead of makking SMGs standard weapons they should turn towards assault rifles like HK416,sig,tavor or ak103 to engage hostiles over much more ranges. Also what good will come out of using SIG552 as sniper rifles by NSG?I would like to see a mix of hk416/tavors,AK103s,P90s and M249s with NSG.

I agree that the NSG should be looking more to ARs as their primary weapons along the lines of the HK-416 in an ideal world

However you should understand that in a NSG HIT (NSG SAG assault teams made up of 6 commandos) are made up of 1-2 commandos armed with SIG-552s (5.56mm calibre), 1 breacher who has an automatic shotgun and the rest with MP-5s.

So yes if the entire HIT was armed with a mix of HK-416s and MP-7s this would dramatically improve the entire lethality of the NSG/SAG.

M249s are overkill, the NSG doesn't need machine guns/SAWs not for urban intervention specialists.

NSG is actually an INDIAN version of US delta force rather than SWAT which is has vry liimited capabilities ,so NSG should have more rifles of both 5.56 and 7.62 and also LMGs to conduct long range ops.Plus SIG552 currently issued to NSG are not suitedd for CQBs or as ARs but as DMRs due to the scopes used. They shoould instead atteched with red dots or hologrraphic sights as used by Special Forces.

No, the NSG are NOT like the US DELTA FORCE rather the FBI's HRT.

And wrt the NSG's SIG-552s, those issued to assaulters in the HITs are given RDS and don't have the bipods, scopes and chin rests of the NSG snipers:

NSG SIG-552 sniper/marksmen:

As their remit is CQB/HR there is little need for an LMG but fair enough have a few as a redundancy but they wouldn't ordinarily be used by the HITs.
