Sorry I just meant that seems to be what Shesha was implying. I have no secret info on the Aridhman. But that ship was supposed to be launched in 2012-13 time frame. I doubt they will launch it with as much fan fare as Arihant. Even this pic of arihant is old. I believe Saurav jha had it on his blog a few months ago.

Has India ever said that we have this and that, or for that reason has any country in Asia said the truth?

its not rusted man, can say different texture as its more of tech demonstrator, then fully operational SSBN.

Arihant has dived below "crushing depths"
Posted on August 21, 2014 by Bharat Karnad
Call up a recent photo of Arihant SSBN publicly available at

http://www.ndtv.com/news/images/story_page/INS_Arihant_650_final.jpg.

What do you see?

The most obvious thing that has not been commented on is the humpback on the hull — the so-called "one and a half hulls""– that
permits the boat to slice through water, performing diving and other actions more efficiently. It is a design aspect, along with several other design features, taken from the Russian Severodvinsk and Borei class nuclear subs.

The less obvious but far more significant things to notice is that Arihant has apparently returned from a mission where it dived below crushing depths of well over 300 meters, around 340-350 metres, to see how well the hull would hold up. It has held up beautifully.

But how can this be deduced?Look closely at the smooth skin on the hull. The titanium alloyed hull has withstood the quite enormous pressures on it in the deep without crimping. But on the differently metalled conning tower there is evidence of the skin being crunched — see the wavy formations? — at great depths. It cannot be reproduced in labs or synthetically. And it couldn't have happened because the Arihant dived to the 100 metre depth of the Vizag channel leading to the open sea. That the structure held up very well may be attributed to the extraordinary welding that fused the tower to the hull.

While it has been publicly put out that the Indian SSBN was working up its nuclear power plant to full power, etc., the fact is it takes no more than a month at the most, at a graduated pace, to reach the full 80 MW drive power. So for the rest of the last 8 months or so, it has been cruising and diving, including below crushing depths. After several more such deep dives the Arihant will have anechoic tiles — able to absorb sound waves, making detection by sonar more difficult — attached to its outer surface, and it will be ready for induction into fleet operations.

The most commendable aspect, other than the high-class technology and manufacturing skills of Indian welders, is the guts shown by the CO, XO, and the rest of the crew of the Arihant in making these repeated hazardous dives but required as a stern test for an SSBN.

The BIG QUESTION that arises is: With so much evidence of indigenous design and manufacturing skills on the Arihant, why is the Indian Navy still hankering for foreign submersibles and not trusting Indian capabilities to produce the Project 75i conventional submarine???

The conning tower looks to be made of different material than the rest of the hull.

Edit: Ok it mention in post #1610

Testing materials at real life circumstances, thats brave.

Its correct. Just look at the size of Arihant and compare it with other SSBNs . If it was a 6000 tons sub, it would have been much smaller than what it looks like. No link at present, this is the 1st public photo of arihant at sea ! the ATV project is one of the India's most secretive project. Might be trying to derail its enemies on false lines :)

a titanium hull double hulled design....as are all russian designs..the ships lik a borei or an akula...look at the subs finishings..the gentle slopes..unlik the jin class which has a tardier job on the hull designing front....now that big a hull cant be 6000..look at it..its quite wide...almost lik a rossikoi federatsi boomer..now it seems even that 4k4 carrying capacity is a hoax...it will carry 12 nuclear tipped missiles..thats it..next lie will be on the reactor front..watch out for it

and for a source.....lol...
wait till 2015 end...sab pata chal jayega...9000 is the beast..

and to correct myself...its not exactly a double hull..but a one n half...only seen in new yasen class...in russia....it provides buoyancy n stability..unlike duck like waddling of single hull..while ensuring stealth..n lower sound..hence need fr lesser power..than in a double hull..so bests of both sides..this one n half hull to fill water in its hull..as stated here..is a late russian inovation now being seen only in yasen class..so guys cheers..ur sub is not a dated charlie model..but the new yasen one...and that huge 30000crore..is partly due to intensive russian help..hsl..destroyd a kilo while trying to repair it in 1999..2000..and this same shipyard is giving us a boomer..that too titanium hulld...surely a full circle fr hsl as well..

good post can you avoid those dots in the post please its a pain to read

and the hull was fabricated by L&T not HSL . HSL only integrated it
