Then time to test Nausainik with Raybans (with all due respect ) and check to validate which equipment works, which dress is better looking or rethink strategy and role.

Deterrence has to be created.
The Navy has deployed 3 guided missile destroyers in the area and is providing cover for merchant ships. Shooting down suicide drones is not as important as finding out where they are coming from.

Something tells me that this has a US involvement more than Iran's. Iran may be a pesky regime, but they are not interested in threatening us, especially after entering BRICS. US on the other hand, has a reasonable motive to keep us disconnected and isolated.

How can we respond "unofficially" to this provocation if it is found to be a US-linked operation?

Another India-destined vessel that had a near miss MV BLAAMANEN.

"The current position of BLAAMANEN is at Red Sea reported 14 hours ago by AIS. The vessel is en route to the port of Kakinada, India, sailing at a speed of 12.3 knots and expected to arrive there on Jan 3, 23:00. The vessel BLAAMANEN (IMO 9278662, MMSI 258012000) is a Chemical/Oil Products Tanker built in 2004 (19 years old) and currently sailing under the flag of Norway." -
Whoever it is, they are testing our military readiness. We need to show them how ready we are. Sink a few of the vessels that are suspected to have sent these drones and convey the point. Whether Iran or the US, they will immediately surface. Since the US has gone on record to say that it is the Iranians, if it turns out to be their contractors trying stunts, they cannot release another official statement if we blast their contractors out of the sea.

If it is Iran, they will learn that they are messing around with the wrong country the hard way. And Russia won't be able to do squat about it.

ITs Iran and China. The LAST nation to be involved in disrupting oil flow would be the US

IN will need to ensure safe passage from ME to India
Otherwise, clubbed with rising crude price and higher insurance on logistics - we'll be thoroughly screwed. Energy is already at a premium in our country

Fuck the houthis, chouthis or anyone else in the process. Thode balls dikhana Gobiji

The US has an incentive to disrupt us right now - by doing so and blaming Iran, it would hope that we target them to jeopardize relations within BRICS, while at the same time, the 5 Eyes gang up against India using the ongoing manufactured controversy on Nijjar/Pannun/other radicals that CIA has cultivated. This isolates us from both power bases and keeps us in a challenging position.

Iran has no reason to pick up a fight with us at this point or any point. Suppose the Navy identified the Iranian vessel sending those drones or even their pet dog Houthis, what do you think would happen? The 3 guided missile destroyers deployed have enough firepower to blast the living daylights out of them.

Do you think Iran would create a new enemy just because China is nudging it to?

Creating a little online nuisance to win Ummah ka Chumma points (Nupur Sharma case) and picking up a direct fight with a nation exponentially more powerful than them are two completely different things.

The IN has begun boarding and searching Iranian vessels. Two ships have been named and shamed. the drone remnants found onboard the MV Chem Pluto is a Shahed 136.

The Iranians are making true their oft repeated threat of crippling the global economy if Israel pulverizes Gaza.

You overestimate the intelligence of jihadi idiots who see nothing ahead of awaam.

Well, they then just got into a whole load of trouble and made a new enemy.

Attacking our oil tankers will be seen as an act of war. If Khamenei is smart, he will dial PM Modi and try cooling down the temperatures.

Another invasion of Yemen seems likely to me at this point. I wonder if it will be a UN-sanctioned invasion or a US coalition-backed one.
I do not think that anyone including us cares about the UN sanctioning anything anymore. The UN has lost its control over the countries of the world. Now the Big 8 powers (US, Russia, China, India, France, UK, Japan, and Turkey) are directly taking matters into their own hands and handling the different issues of the world.

Attacking a broken Yemen at this point makes no sense. The Houthis are not making their weapons - it would make more sense to intercept Iranian ships sending arms to the Houthis.

Pretty stupid of them to think that attacking Indian ships was a smart idea after having been invited to join BRICS.

Yes. It was more of a geopolitical posturing question for me, considering that these actions have put a lot of global trade at risk. A UN sanction would be more desirable for the countries who are not completely aligned to the western bloc but still want to protect their trade interests. Among the P5 only Russia would likely be opposed to an invasion as they are relatively insulated from trade in this part of the world. China's position would be interesting to see. A veto from any one of these will anyhow put a UN intervention out of question.

Attacking Iran directly would be too much of an escalation so i think an invasion of yemen is more likely to be agreed upon by the economic powers. But these actions are making the eastern bloc more isolated.

Meanwhile.

We have 5 DDGs in the area. All three P15As and 2 P15Bs.
The P15As and P15Bs are the only ships we have with modern radars and SAMs.

The Talwars and the earlier P15s and P17s urgently need to be upgraded. The old Soviet Fregat radar with arm launched Shtil SAM is grossly inadequate for today's threat environment. Hopefully recent events push the navy to speed up the upgrade program.
