INS Vikramaditya: Everything you Need to Know about warship
INS Vikramaditya is a warship of 44,500 tonnes, 284 metres long and 60 metres high. In a comparison way, its length is equal to about three football fields and the height is about 22-storey building. The warship is very inspiring and encouraging because of strategic importance. A total of 22 boat floors are present in the ship.

With more than 1,600 personnel on board the vessel, INS Vikramaditya is literally a 'city of walks''. With a capacity of more than 8,000 tonnes of LSHSD, the warship has more than 7,000 nautical miles or 13,000 km. is equipped with the potential of strategic activity to the extent of more than that.

Fully prepared vessel during launch & deployment
In order to enable the city of Steel to pass through sea waves at a speed of up to 30 nautical miles on the go of this 44,500 tonne, the vessel is powered by 08 new generation steam boilers producing a total capacity of 180,000 SHP production.
These boilers are larger than the height of four giant conductors, each diameter, than the average male height. Four such propellers - four shaft configurations are another first in the Indian Navy.
The power generation capacity on the ship is about 18 MW which is sufficient to meet the lighting requirement of a small town.
A comprehensive improvement in sensors including long-range air surveillance radars, improved electronic warfare room equipment is able to monitor the warship for a distance of more than 500 km around it.

Off topic, found it fascinating ( I'm still a noob )


US Congress had ordered that the following measures be implemented to ensure that USS Wisconsin could be returned to active duty if needed:

1.She must not be altered in any way that would impair her military utility.

2.The battleship must be preserved in her present condition through the continued use of cathodic protection, dehumidification systems, and any other preservation methods as needed.

3.Spare parts and unique equipment such as the 16 in (406 mm) gun barrels and projectiles be preserved in adequate numbers to support Wisconsin, if reactivated.

4.The Navy must prepare plans for the rapid reactivation of Wisconsin should she be returned to the Navy in the event of a national.

I thought whatever they did in the movie was a joke!

Nothing. Next in line is 16 ASWSWCs divided in between GRSE and CSL.
Actually that's a representative picture and they used a French vessel...
How many large corvettes are required then?

Next Generation Missile Vessel private sector. 2,800 tons. 7 planned ADC 24 VLS.
Project 28A class/NG Corvette GRESL. 3,200 tons. 6 planned ASWC unknown VLS.
NGOPV private sector. 2,400 tons. 7 planned MOPV 16 VLS.
and now there is the Sanchi Class OPV replacement. 2,000 tons. 6 planned MOPV VLS uknown.

In total 26 Large corvette are planned.

Better to go for a Single Multi purpose Corvette Class. This is a mess.

Leave alone OPVs and NGOPVs. They are big, but not in class of a true corvette. Their ASW role is minimal and can't be considered as a replacement. They are more of a support vessel.
The only Corvette in planning stage are the 6 more which would be carrying forward the legacy of Kiltan and Kavaratti with additional AShM capability along with ASW.

After DRDO, it's the Navy which is on a testing spree.
INS Prabal today launched a SS-N-2D Styx and sank a decommissioned Godavari class frigate.

The frigate sank after a single hit.
It's a SS-N-25 uran ashm and not Styx. My mistake.

Indian Navy Anti-Ship Missile Exhibits Pinpoint Accuracy as It Sinks Target Frigate in Trial

India’s state funded Defence Research and Development Organisation has tested over a dozen missiles including the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and Abhyas high-speed expendable aerial target since September of this year. The Indian media played up these tests as a warning to Beijing amid an ongoing border standoff with China. The Indian Navy has uploaded incredible footage of its warship Prabal launching a KH-35 Uran anti-ship missile during a practice drill. The missile was launched on Friday morning somewhere from the Arabian Sea. The latter hit its target, a decomissioned Godavari class frigate, with pinpoint accuracy at its maximum range.

DRDO start Prototype work on VL-SRSAM (Astra BVRAAM) for Indian Navy

Fresh Tender documents issued by the DRDO for a 8 Cell A vertical launching system (VLS) for Vertically Launched -Short-range Surface Air to Missile ) A system based on Astra beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile has confirmed that Prototype work on construction of an VL-SRSAM missile has begun. Previous tender documents had called for the interested parties to submit bids of VL-SRSAM missile integration Jig. Fresh documents show that VL-SRSAM based on the Astra Mk1 BVRAAM will be getting a first-stage Booster motor for the initial launch and for the first time a TVC (Thrust Vector Control) nozzle has also been sported. VL-SRSAM will be a next-generation, ship-based, all-weather, air defence weapon system that will provide complete protection against all known and projected air targets Over 25 km and the addition of a first-stage Booster motor will ensure a 40km+ Interception range now. idrw.org has been informed, that VL-SRSAM will be developed in two variants for Air Force and Indian Navy. The air force will get high mobility Truck-mounted canister based VL-SRSAM and the Navy will get Canister based VL-SRSAM for its frontline warships which will replace aging Israeli supplied Barak-1 Point Defence interceptor missiles which were procured after India ended its Tri-service Trishul SRSAM program in 2006 due to technical issues. Indian Navy in 2019 had issued a Request For Proposal ( RFP ) to replace its Israeli Barak-1 air defense systems on Kamorta class corvettes but no foreign missile was selected and still many of the latest Kamorta-class ships like INS Kavaratti, that joined the Navy fleet recently come without any Point Defence System Missiles (PDSM) like Barak-1 or VL-SRSAM which is one of the serious handicaps for the Anti-Submarine Warfare ship.
