Ya'll Nibbiars Many years ago, an Indian flotilla out in the Gulf led by Rear Admiral Madanjit Singh, later Vice Admiral and FOC-in-C, Western Naval Command, was asked by a US naval ship to identify itself and to its query “How long have you been here?” replied “Since before Christ!”

Anyone heard about Fort Drum .

How good idea would it be to construct a few similar sites in the Andaman region with modern 16 inch guns and guided shells ?

The error here is that you are suggesting copying the exact setup.

Instead, you should try to copy the idea behind the setup, and modernise it.

16 inch guns were the most destructive weapon of a battleship in that era. In todays era, missiles are the most destructive weapon of a destroyer. Thus, a modern day Fort Drum would be a missile battery, which indeed will be quite effective (especially if mobile).

I would not remove the possibility of updated 6inch and 8 inch guns with rocket assisted projectiles. Those can be lethal.
