They had their reasons, a cell that can take a BrahMos sized missile can take a lot of other missiles as well.
For example - LR-LACM will be integrated with UVLM

Definitely yes, but not in the current configuration

The launcher that Russia uses for its BrahMos is called UKSK VLS. A loosely translated "Universal" VLS because it can launch multiple types of cruise missile like Klubs and Kaliburs. They can easily do this because all of their cruise missiles are cold launched. So when BrahMos airspace also made a launcher for BrahMos and that too with Russian assistance they simply named named it UVLM too.
We can't do this because except BrahMos every other missile we have are hot launched; Barak 8, Nirbhay, AD...

Any timeline for this?
Certain modules of the LRLACM are being produced, so I'm guessing development trials of AUR's in 2024, followed by trials from the UVLM in 2025 or 2026-ish? Then a period of user trials and EIS in 2027-28. Could be optimistic.

We don't know how they will handle the LRLACM from UVLM. It might be launched like Kaliber or they will do separate handling of flumes and heat if they launch it like Tomahawk.

LR-LACM will use the UVLM-8 that is on P15A/B.
BAPL's major contribution was the hatch design, other industrial partners like L&T were also included in the programme.
UKSK had the participation of Indian scientists as well.
Anyway, the point of the post was to refute the 'for absolutely no reason' claim, programmes are not executed in a vacuum, IN' intent to use UVLM for missiles other than BrahMos was likely conveyed to the industrial partners that made UVLM.
Any timeline for this?
I have the timeline for the delivery of Transport Containers, T naught + 4 months.

Although its all hypothetical, my 2 cents on this:

Our sanctioned strength for destroyers is 15 and for frigates it is 24. By 2027, we will be having 10 DDG:
03 P-15
03 P-15A
04 P-15B

And 23 FFG:
03 P11356 Batch 1
03 P-16A
03 P11356 Batch 2
03 P-17
07 P-17A
04 P11356 Batch 3/4

We will be short of 5 DDG and 1 FFG to reach the sanctioned numbers.

We will be replace 03 P-16A and 03 P11356 Batch 01 frigates with 07 P-17B and reach the total number of 24 FFG by ~2035.

03 P-17
03 P11356 Batch 02
07 P-17A
04 P11356 Batch 03/04
07 P-17B

By the same time, we will also be inducting 04 NGD in first phase to reach the number 14 then we will add another 04 in second phase to replace the 03 P-15 and meet the requirement of 15 DDG by ~2037.

03 P-15A
04 P-15B
04 NGD Batch 01
04 NGD Batch 02

MDL is undertaking a very ambitious programme to indigenize almost 8,000 components of what goes into a submarine, WDB (Warship Design Bureau) is also working on the indigenisation of the submarine under the project P-76. MDL and WDB will be working on these aspects jointly. While referring to the midget submarine programme the CMD stated “This is a research & development project undertaken by MDL, primarily taken for the purpose of indigenisation, this will be a multi role submarine, which can be deployed for special operations, oceanography, and tourist purposes…touching water by end of 24…all components will be indigenous”. MDL successfully tested the pressure hull for the submarine in July 2023.
