All ships are getting Scanter 6002s and Lynx U1s as and when they come to refit. Its happening across the fleet. Same can be said for SRCGs. The MFSTAR class ships dont really need the Lynx and FCR but IN is putting them on cause why the f not

Actually sir ji from my observation, Lynx U1 is not present on any MFSTAR ship.

Yeah, ship was launched in end of 2020, Goliath crane was installed in June 2021. Its been 1.5 years since then Sherlock.

Well, Shtil would be replaced by VL-SRSAM eventually and maybe the Russians were (as usual) asking for some exorbitant sum of money to effectuate any design changes in the ship? This might have forced Navy to go ahead with arm launchers for now and replace it with VL-SRSAM post-delivery.



On that same page (see source below), they say:-

First ship of a class is usually delayed. Deliveries speed up in subsequent ships. Nothing new here. Yes they should improve speed for subsequent ships but I think that will happen in NGD and NGF more because of higher indigenous content, especially the weapons and sensors going indigenous.

Look at the % of import content in an OPV and in the P-17A. Look at the total number of subsystems. And you'll realize that L&T would hardly fare any better.
Also, L&T is involved in P-17A as well. It is collaborating with GRSE in P-17A.

People need to stop falling in this trap that private sector is some panacea.

Trouble with DPSUs is that they always show faster turnarounds in the future but the day never comes.

While INS Vikramaditya's repair and refit process is delayed, landing on aircraft carrier INS Vikrant will likely take place early 2023. Meanwhile, naval pilots train on a shore-based test facility in Goa.

I know one is SSR and other is FCR.

I like to use flashlights and lasers as a metaphor. The Scanter Surface Search Radar is like a high power flashlight with wide field of view searching the ocean surface for reflections.

The Lynx is high power laser that is used to pin point the location, trajectory and vector of a target. Once done, it can guide missiles, guns, CIWS, etc
