Well no, supporting examples are fed in memory of every defense enthusiast. Over it, US history with such things hasn't been much supportive towards India.
What is "such things"? Every US-India defense deal has been on time, on budget and without fake assurances and jacked up costs of ToT. Every product sold is in current use with US forces. If that's not enough then nothing is!

US has historically refuted multiple strategic weapons for India and came back with offer while India made its own alternatives. And as strings were attached, India's defense engagement with US is itself towards essential items and basic ammo mere.

What "strategic weapons" did you receive from other nations? Don't say nukes, ICBM or Nuclear Sub- you would insult your county's scientific achievements. Don't say anti-ship/LACM missiles - they are tactical weapons. Your "historical claims" need verification.

We received significant help in construction of Arihant class of SSBN from Russia, which is a strategic weapon.
Whereas, US on the other side denied sale of Arrow 2 missiles by Israel to India.

Since US effectively blocked THAAD to India until introduction of Indian ABM itself, that's enough for its reliability. It even closed GPS for India in Kargil war and its few major weapons in India like INS Jalashwa have conditions attached.

Procuring major weapons from the US is a non-starter if they come with conditions like the INS Jalashwa. Would an Indian F-18 even be allowed to be used for "offensive purposes"?

One of the major advantage of the Rafale vs the F-18 is that the French don't care if India puts nukes on them.

The question was: which strategic weapons did you receive from other nations? None is the correct answer (getting help to build nuclear submarine by Russians is a weakly supported claim). So at some point you have to judge other nations with the same disdain you treat US.

Closed GPS ? Without access to militaryGPS, (which India had none till recent times after signing some agreements) how can you claim it was interrupted? This is another hit job of anti-US forces in India.

What exact conditions are attached with US weapons? Do you know?

What is Turkey doing with its F-16 in Syria and Greece? Where do people cook up so much BS? Do you think US would be #1 exporter of weapons if it didn't allow customer nations to do whatever they have to do while some other nation like France allowed? Get out of Soviet, anti-US mindset. It's hurting your own interests.

Turkey is a NATO member so the rules are different from them.

I don't know what restrictions the US would demand on Indian F-18s but they would probably be arduous given that it wanted assurances that an amphibious transport dock like INS Jalashwa wouldn't be used for offensive purposes and that it be placed under a US inspection regime.

I can't imagine that it would allow Indian F-18s to be armed with nukes. That alone is a big advantage for the Rafale.

Why does that statement sound so unconvincing? Because it lacks supporting examples.
How about this one?
Any military fan here in Canada knows how, under so-called "harmony brotherhood", Canada armed forces are so fed up w/ US predators. And I'm NOT just talking about 1st-line weapons...

Like so many things else, it's a strategic decision that Canada has to be "attached" to MIC of US. But first thing you be honest to your own country interest is that: you are NOT blind to how you have been treated.

2nd thing 2nd is: you have to give US the credit that they may be the world number one in making strategic benefit from this weapon+geopolitics game...

Just to be clear I think that buying used F-18s from the US to use until the TEDBF is ready is a good idea.

But the terms of usage are important too. If India buys the F-18 then it should be able to use it to for example bomb Karachi if it wants whether the US agrees or not. There should be no "maintaining strategic balance in South Asia" nonsense.

The problem is less of the platform, but the weapons. Will we be able to integrate our existing IN weapon systems on to it or for that matter the BrahMos. If no, then its a non starter.
