Would make sense, wouldn't it? The ships are meant to support amphibious landings. You would need a 127mm gun for Naval Gunfire Support roles. Kinda makes sense... but I don't know.
In my naive opinion it will be suicidal to get such capital ships near beaches. hey will perhaps operate like standoff weapons operating from a distance.. LCUs etc have been designated for that purpose. I guess if you scroll up its there.

Can someone answer my question as to why the cost of a gun is $36 million? Why is one single gun more expensive than JF17 aircraft?

It's not just a gun, it's a system.
Most people see only gun but the actual ammunition feeding and other support systems are buried two stories below the deck.

Indian Navy IL-38 was force to make an emergency landing in an airport near Moscow after front landing gear did not deploy.
Based on the video looks like minor damage to underside of front fuselage though they will probably have to replace front landing gear:

I think it was their for refurbishment and this happens ,we should have decommissioned this Soviet antiquity and ordered more P-8i than any wastage of funds on this ,this happened on the watch of company and was flown by company test pilots ,so it is they who should bear the cost

Yeah, Ilyushin will bear the costs. The same thing happened when a MiG29K meant for us crashed in Russia; RAC MIG built the replacement MiG from their own funds.

:hmm: more dependence on specialised rounds ... just like zumwalt, means more money splurged.
Arreh baba. The Mk45 can fire normal rounds. The ERGM rounds (if acquired) will enable a greater stand off distance for engagement of shore targets at "safe distances". Doesn't mean that we can't use your average 127mm shell. The Zumwalt has a brand new 155mm gun. The Mk 45 on the other hand has been in service for decades now. Apples and Oranges.

Collapse Of 259 Ton Goliath Crane At GRSE To Impact India’s Most Advanced Warships ProgramT

A major accident involving collapse of a 250 tons capacity Goliath Crane at the Public Sector Garden Reach Shipbuilder & Engineers (GRSE) at Kolkata has completely damaged the hull shop thereby putting to risk the ongoing P 17 A program to built seven stealth frigates.

The P17A warships are India’s most advanced and stealthy frigates. Three out of the seven ships are being built at GRSE and remaining at at Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai (MDL) for the Indian Navy.

Sources said the accident happened on 17 April 2018 but was kept under the wraps by the management. It involved collapse of one goliath crane of 250 ton capacity, 47 meter lift covering the Module Hall, Dry Dock and inclined berth at GRSE.

This accident would cast a direct impact on P 17 A Program. Large store adjoining the Building Berth has been severely damaged and is now unusable, further impacting the work at the Shipyard.

To add to the above, new goliath cranes have a time period of 30 months from issue of tender to installation and commissioning.

The Project 17A-class frigate is a follow-on of the Project 17 Shivalik-class frigate for the Indian Navy.

The construction of the first ship started in 2017 and the first ship is expected to delivered by 2022. The anticipated cost for each vessel is above ₹4,000 crore(US$613 million) and the total deal is expected to be worth more than ₹6,400 crore(US$980 million).

Not only has the crane got damaged beyond repair, sources said that it has to be written off. This, they added has resulted in blocking of Dry Dock and Building Berth Gates. Each of these weighs about 170 ton and can be lifted only by 250 ton crane.

The Module Hall where P 17 A block were being fabricated has been totally destroyed and has become unusable.

Thus not only the ongoing programs will suffer but this may also impact the contract under negotiation with the MoD for Anti Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts.

An internal enquiry is under way to establish the cause of accident and establish responsibility.

If these cranes are so weak, how will they handle wartime constructions? In WW2, so many ports were bombed. If the repair works were not done quickly, they would never have been able to build warships in such pace.

Such cheap build quality is really pathetic

There was news of centre offloading 25% stake in GRSE. That place is a den of Bangladeshis and labor mafia. Anyway this means more work for MDL.

https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/m.ti...25-stake-in-grse/amp_articleshow/63932463.cms

Until BJP gets W. Bengal expect more chaos.

The way I see this incident, the crane will be cut into pieces and sold off as scrap. New crane will come online to undertake work on 4th Frigate. With 127 mm gun confirmation for integration, time was expected.

Stupid fucking Bengali idiots. Strike and more strike. Bloody race of dhimmies.

P.S: I am a nationalist Bengali so this hurts but is the truth.

Cranes crash due to variety of reasons.
1) Improper Loading/ Load Distribution
2) Load swaying due to Strong winds
3) And ofcourse breakdown of critical part etc.
