These people are real geniuses. The Rafale deal cost 58000 crore for 36 planes and hence they extrapolated it to 95000 crore for 57 planes. These are some serious morons.
According to some reports, The Indian Navy will soon invite requests for RFPs for a Rs 95,000-crore tender to purchase 57 fighter aircraft. SAAB, LM , Boeing, Dassault Aviation and MIG will be receiving the RFPs soon.

# Russia # India # Military-industrial complex # Navy

Two plus two: A contract for new Russian frigates for India is being prepared.

A deal for the construction of the 11356 frigates in India is planned to be closed in June. Tass learned about this from a military-diplomatic source. On one of the most high-volume domestic warships post-Soviet period - in the material of the portal iz.ru .

The framework intergovernmental agreement on the construction of a new series of frigates for Project 11356 for India was signed back in October 2016. The agreement determined that two ships should be built in Russia, and two more - in Indian, with the localization of the release of part of the equipment.

The third three turned into a quadruple
India orders the ships of the project 11356 for almost 20 years and now operates six units. The first three of these frigates (such as Talwar, as they are called in India) began to build the Baltic plant in 1999 and passed 2003-2004. The order for the second three was transferred to the shipyard "Yantar" in Kaliningrad: the ships were laid in 2007-2008, handed over in 2012-2013.

The project 11356 frigate was developed on the basis of the 11351 border guard patrol Nereus, which in turn maintains a pedigree from the 1135 Fleet guards.

The ships lost anti-submarine specialization and became multipurpose. They received a fairly powerful missile weapon: anti-aircraft complex "Shtil" and vertical launchers 3С14Э (for eight cells), of which 3M54E anti-ship missiles of the Club complex (export version of the Caliber complex) could be used. The air defense system was supplemented by anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems "Kashtan"; on the second three they were replaced with standard six-bar automatic AK-630.

The second three ships received anti-ship BrahMos, launched from the same vertical installations of 3C14E. BrahMos is an Indian rocket made together with Reutov's NPO Mashinostroeniya under very strong influence of the design of the missile P-800 "Onyx" (export version - "Yakhont").

Not from a good life
According to the logic that was laid in the development of the surface forces of the Russian fleet in the 2000s, the frigates of Project 22350 (such as Admiral Gorshkov) were to be their basis. The main ship was laid in 2006. The ship was notable for its novelty, in particular, carried the anti-aircraft missile and artillery system "Polimen-Redut", which controlled all the air defense weapons of the ship in a single circuit. Due to the long development of new weapons, the ship can not hand over until now. Therefore, already in the middle of this long period, the military began to think about what to replace the long-term construction.

In 2010, they decided to order on the same "Yantar" three frigates of the project 11356 with minimal changes. The main one is the anti-aircraft complex (whose export version is called "Shtil-1") with vertical launchers instead of beam ones. In 2011, they added an order for three more ships. All six frigates were to go to the Black Sea Fleet. In total, the Navy then forked out 80 billion rubles.

The first three have been handed over to the customer at the moment. Admiral Grigorovich and Admiral Essen have already joined the Black Sea Fleet and are involved in the Russian operation in Syria. "Admiral Makarov" was delayed in the Baltic, mainly because of testing a new 9M317MA anti-aircraft missile with an active radar homing head.

From the structure of the second three in 2013, two ships were built: Admiral Istomin and Admiral Butakov. The third, "Admiral Kornilov", has not yet been formally established.

Remnants of the past
In the description of the future contract, the source particularly stressed that the corps of already built ships will not be used for its execution. The fact is that the second three frigates, destined for the Russian Navy, hung on the "Yantar" in an unfinished state.

The reason was the conflict with Ukraine over the Crimea and the Donbass in 2014. The ships were equipped with gas turbine power units manufactured at the Zorya-Mashproekt Nicholas plant in the former All-Union competence center for such engines. After 2014, Kiev blocked the supply of turbines for the execution of contracts with the Russian military.

As a result, Russia is now rapidly accelerating the introduction of its own gas turbine units in Rybinsk, at the production base of NPO Saturn. In the same place, by the way, powerplants will also be produced for the other ships affected by the policy - the already mentioned frigates of the project 22350.

The contract for the second three with the Russian Navy is not officially broken, but its execution is suspended. The military has repeatedly confirmed that the frigates will be manned to the extent possible by Russian gas turbines, completed and accepted into the fleet. The exact terms will depend on the readiness for serial production of equipment, especially since the rhythmic release of ships of this type "Yantar" has already mastered.

Power plants for the Indian order can also be purchased in Ukraine, through New Delhi. In any case, in August 2017, the Commission for Defense Procurement of India approved the allocation of $ 76 million for the purchase of two sets of gas turbine units. They are planned to be transferred to Russia for the construction of the first pair of frigates under a new contract.

PORT BLAIR (Andaman Nicobar): The third ship of the Landing Craft Utility (LCU) Mk-IV project was inducted into the Indian Navy today at Port Blair. The ship was commissioned as INLCU L53 by Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC, Commander-in-Chief A&N Command.

Designed and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, the ship showcases the immense potential of the country’s indigenous shipbuilding capability and is in consonance with the national goal of ‘Make in India’.

LCU MK-IV ship is an amphibious ship with a displacement of 830 Tons and is capable of transporting combat equipment such as Main Battle Tanks Arjun, T72 and other Armoured Vehicles.

The ship is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and advanced systems such as the Integrated Bridge System (IBS) and the Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS).

The indigenous CRN 91 Gun with Stabilised Optronic Pedestal provides the ship the requisite offensive capability for undertaking patrolling in addition.

The ship, commanded by Lt Cdr Vikas Anand, has a complement of five officers and 45 sailors. Capable of carrying 160 troops in addition, the ships would be based in the Andaman and Nicobar Command bolstering the Command’s capability in undertaking multi-role activities such as beaching operations, HADR, search/ rescue, and supply and replenishment of distant islands.

The remaining five ships of the project are in an advanced stage of construction and are scheduled to be inducted into Indian Navy over the next year and a half.

Induction of these ships will contribute to the nation’s maritime security needs and would accomplish India’s quest for self-reliance in shipbuilding.

Thirteen?! That's Four P-15B + 3 for the P-15A.. baaki?! I guess four on the LHDs that we will eventually acquire. So, 11 accounted for. ... Confused.. @aditya10r bhai thoda idea do
Do LHDs carry those main guns? Mistral, Dodko dont nor do others usually.

Perhaps some not so public decision to make 2 more destroyers or refit them in previous ones

We went for the BAe ones?! WTF? Oto Melara ka kya hua.. I guess Leonardo hasn't been cleared of the Blacklist. Shame. Wanted to see Vulcano rounds in IN.
Kind of known when BHEL stopped giving any news about 127mm Oto Melara from 2016 onwards.
They only boasted about 76mm

Would make sense, wouldn't it? The ships are meant to support amphibious landings. You would need a 127mm gun for Naval Gunfire Support roles. Kinda makes sense... but I don't know.
