Anti dumping duty imposed to counter a whopping 62% increase in imports;

Even US and EU are following suit it seems. Inevitable though, overproduction can be countered with trade barriers only.
China must be kicked out of WTO. They will never stop dumping. They have to show GDP as exceeding the US at all costs - even if they destroy the earth in the process. The CCP must be stopped. They are literally raping the earth.

As much as steel and cement production growth should make us happy, it is still very low in per capita terms.
Vietnam produces 3 times less cement than us for a country almost 15 times smaller than us in terms of population.

China is producing as much as they should be as world's largest country in terms of population and the fact that it still is developing.

Is Vietnam producing as much cement as China per capita? That would be surprising given the difference in per capita GDP.

Our steel and cement consumption is what you would expect given China has a 5x larger economy and much more manufacturing and infrastructure spending. Also, the services exports that the Indian economy relies on does not require any steel or cement.

No need; WTO is already dysfunctional - Trump left it that way. These days, everyone can put a tariff on anything and can get away with it - free trade is dead!

As far as surpassing the US goes, well....

We dont export steel and cement like the chinese do. Only a minority portion of Chinese production is for domestic purposes.

No, they are producing way way too much. Exporting the fuck out has always been their way of creating a bubble of sort to emerge out of a crisis and they are attempting to do it again.

The amount of excess supply, calculated by subtracting steel consumption from the volume of crude steel produced, rose to a seven-year high in the first five months of 2023, according to Marubeni Research.
I wonder how much of Vietnamese production/export is just rerouted cheeni stuff.

The chinese claim a 5 ~% growth this year .. What is the basis of this "fall" in GDP ? Any primary source is welcome.

More evidence of overproduction;

Tariffs, tariffs and more tariffs loading....

No wonder India's trade barriers almost exclusively target cheenis these days.

Real growth vs nominal growth in $ terms; CNY depreciated sharply.

Also, the claim of 5% growth is utter nonsense; no serious observer takes it at face value.

China started as a sweatshop and was one for decades. They were the largest processor of world’s toxic waste. They have done some real environmental damage, killed thousands due to polluted waters and cancer villages, made people work horrible number of hours for low pay, used slave labor from occupied Tibet etc to get where they are. India is never going to do it this way. And we should definitely not do it this way. It is better to tell the world that our manufacturing costs would be higher due to ethical practices and basic human rights protection - and it is on you if you purchase from unethical countries like China. Blood diamonds from Africa were cut down this way.
Well said.
India should tell the whole world: India has no environmental issues, India workers are fully protected and well paid.
The problem is: does the world believes you and does the outside world care?

First, we project China's GDP growth to reach 5.4 percent in 2023, reflecting a strong post reopening rebound in domestic demand

China’s growth is projected at 5.2 percent in 2023 before slowing to 4.5 percent in 2024.
