Why do AK don't have good accuracy like AR's?
AK47 is an AR, as in Assault Rifle. AK47 is based on a relaxed architecture which is more durable and easy to maintain, but during firing the stock and barrel of the gun shake more vigorously than most ARs of today due to the relaxed architecture resulted from recoil. Further, heavier 7.62mm round causes mussle climb when on automatic mode that that starys the bullet off target, too.

You gotta understand that AK47 is a true soldier's weapon. It needs minimum maintenance, and is soldier-proofed in an unmatched way. It needs minimum training and it will fire even if it has not been maintained for a long time, and even if gets dirt, sand or even water - it will fire.

P.S. please post your questions in relevant threads.

Colonel Santosh Mahadik, commanding officer of the 41 Rashtriya Rifles, was injured when a search party he was leading came under fire from militants in the dense forests of Haji Naka along the Line of Control. (Ketan Tirodkar/Facebook)
A colonel died and two security personnel sustained serious injuries in a gun battle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.

Colonel Santosh Mahadik, commanding officer of the 41 Rashtriya Rifles, was injured when a search party he was leading came under fire from militants in the dense forests of Haji Naka along the Line of Control.

The injured include a police official of the Special Operations group in Jammu and Kashmir police. He was identified as Majloon Ahmad.

Army and police personnel were carrying out searches as part of an operation that started on November 13 to flush out terrorists -- suspected to be from Lashkar-e-Taiba -- hiding in the forest area.

The militants fled deep into the forests and the security forces continued to chase them, and a fresh gunfight erupted on Tuesday, an official said.

Lt Gen DS Hooda, Commander of the Northern Command, expressed deep condolences after Colonel Mahadik’s death.

“The Colonel was a true soldier and had conducted many successful counter-terrorist operations. Originally from the Special Forces, the officer was earlier awarded Sena Medal for exhibiting gallantry and leadership in counter terrorist operations,” an Udhanpur-based army spokesperson said.

Colonel Mahadik, 37, is survived by his wife and two children aged eleven and five years.

“The army is committed to providing all support to the family in this hour of grief,” the spokesperson said.

Son of a dairy farmer, Colonel Mahadik was proud of his roots and would often call himself a milkman’s son. His father still supplies milk and milk products to his alma mater, Sainik School, Satara in Maharashtra. The school’s alumni include top generals, admirals and air marshals.

According to sources, the group of terrorists infiltrated into the Indian side on the intervening night of October 30-31, but was trapped in the area due to rain and heavy snowfall.

The army unit that is at the helm of the ongoing operations had recently recovered the body of a militant believed to have died due to hypothermia.

Across Jammu and Kashmir, there were 70 infiltration bids last year during which 65 terrorists managed to sneak in while 136 were pushed back.

In 2013, there were 91 bids by 280 terrorists and 97 were able to slip past the army’s three-tiered counter-infiltration grid.

The recent spike in violence in the state came against the backdrop of a sharp downturn in relations between India and Pakistan following the cancellation of talks between the national security advisers in August.

India has insisted that Pakistan must address the issue of terrorism to create grounds for the resumption of bilateral talks.

I heard that this cat-and-mouse game has been going on since 13th of November. In my opinion there has been some tactical error which resulted in Martyrdom of such a senior officer.

Saying RIP will not be sufficient, we must act in retribution.

An error which cost us the life of an invaluable C.O. of the Rashtriya Rifles:tsk:!!I wonder when Mr.Parriker is going to support the F-INSAS uprgradation package for the entire I.A.!!We are losing irreplaceable soldiers because of the lack of bullet proof vests,NVGs and last but not the least some modern day assault rifles with reflex sight attached unlike that ancient piece of junk which the good Colonel was holding in his hand when this photo was taken:frusty:!!

Seems like an ambush. Specifically targetted the top rank officer. Most probably he was wearing insignia which in a proper battlefield he would not have. Have you noticed that in recent times, too many top rank officers like Colonels and Majors are losing their lives in J&K attacks. Some tactical change needs to be there, as losing these highly experienced officers are greater blows.

RIP Col. Mahadik!

I have got certain principles in my life which i strictly follow and one of them is to respect the womenfolk irrespective of their religion and the country of origin. But after readin her comments i somehow feel tempted to abuse this garbage of a woman using the choicest expletives against her but i won't abuse her because we are not like her or her ilks.We are the good guys and i am quite sure that we'll triumph over these buffoons in the near future...

Salute and tributes to the sacrifice of this true officer and a gentleman who lived and died by the Chetwode code that every army officer is pledged to. R.I.P

A Commanding Officer should not have take that risk but IA has tradition of leading from front just like the Rajas used to do with a fight with Moguls ,that's a very risky affair but it takes lot of courage even for a CO to leave the comfort & safety of his operation room & go out in he field.
