This must be the first picture i saw an Indian Army soldier with a Greanade launcher gun. Dunno whether its been useful in present scenario, but this enhance the combat capabilities of infantry soldiers.

Kunal,.....The Army use Grenade launchers only in Border areas right. Do you know any reports of being used in a infiltration fight?

AGS-17 Plamya automatic grenade launcher is a basic Infantry weapon in all Infantry Units of Indian army, The weapon gives long range and heavy suppressive fire, Its rounds have effective kill radius of 2-5 meters, range is 1500-1700meter, rate of fire is 250-400rnds intense, Its used from fixed positions & Yes we use them very much in CT operations..

Why do some soldier cover their faces whereas others don't?
Their are no. of things:

1. Cold
2. Some men work in the same sector and dont want to disclose their identity..
3. Some dont care for the rules..

shuvo these pics were taken during january 2010 from srinagar, honestly i couldn't specify which unit he belongs coz there is no specific camo pattern for any of the forces including army,SOG ,bsf or crpf or J&K police, we could only speculate that he belongs to CRPF which performs security duties in Srinagar because of the bulgarian AK he is holding which is not common among RR or para SF,plus as he is a sikh he may not be a member of j&k police, and also BSF coz BSF was replaced by CRPF in Srinagar.

can i know about the performance of iNSAS rifle, especially in CT operations ......
yeah soldiers hate it since it does not kill terrorist at first shot, therefore they use AK to take out terrorists, INSAS is used in out ring, since it has good rage and accurate fire.

What about the reliability issue.. read from a HINDU news article some time back that the nepal army had lots of problems with both reliability and plastic which used to break

no plastic on INSAS.................... If rifle is not reliable then tough customer like IA would not have used it in such large number.
