The jihadis killed in Bandipora are carrying North Face bags? If it's not a Cheeni ripoff, then either the jihadis are very well financed (if they can afford to hand out North face bags to each and every expendable) or these were senior jihadis attempting something big.

On a more grave level, is Cheen supplying these bits and pieces to Pakis to supply to their jihadis?

They may or may want to die, but they are willing to die, ready to die should the need arise. I believe that restricting the term to a strictly theological context is disingenuous on the part of Thappar.
I see nothing wrong in what Thapar said. I have read the entire article. It is semantic in nature, but nonetheless it is correct. Nothing disingenuous in it.

Whether they are willing to die or not, I don't know. I don't speak for them. When it comes to life and death of a soldier, I take General Patton's comment far more seriously than anything else. See the footnote at the bottom of my post.

Also, read up on the rationale behind introduction of the 5.56 mm NATO bullet in place of 7.62 mm NATO.

Well neither does Thappar when he says this

A soldier may lay down his life in defence of his country but that wasn’t what he wanted. It certainly wasn’t what he sought. He has a wife and children he wanted to return to. A mother and father he wished to see again. A life he hoped to live to the full. At no point was he seeking death.
Once again- as you said- he or anyone for that matter cannot speak for the soldier. This is why I feel the article is a little disingenuous.

Either way, I prefer the term veergati myself. I think I'll stop here before this goes off topic.

No, I don't speak for any soldier. However, you can read some book written by a soldier and get a glimpse of what goes through his mind. I recommend, one out of many, "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque, who was a German veteran of World War I. Read this book, get a perspective, and then, each individual is free to agree or disagree.

Petrol, I think. This was supposed to be a suicide attack and they were probably planning to do as much damage as possible. Kudos to the CRPF guys for doing this with zero casualties on our side.

:india: Speechless.

Attack took place at 3:45 am and lasted till 6:15 am.

The Sumbal camp of the CRPF is the headquarters of the 45th battalion which was headed by Chetan Kumar Cheeta, who survived despite taking nine bullets while fighting militants in Bandipora in 2016.

It seems now CRPF is more than enough for these loosers. As usual Pakis will not accept bodies of their nationals. They did not accept bodies even of their SSG personnel in Siachin.

Check this Indian Army motto about death and martyrdom.

This is a quote from Geeta. Indian army has embraced it with no issues. Why Mr Thapar has a problem digesting it is anyone's guess.

2 months to go: Not a soft state, go get them all, Govt tells Army in Kashmir

Written by: Vicky Nanjappa

Published: Monday, June 5, 2017, 7:33 [IST]

Terrorists will not have an easy time in the Kashmir Valley anymore. In quick time early this morning, four terrorists who launched an attack on a CRPF camp were gunned down. It may be recalled that the Indian Army had given the 180 odd terrorists in the Valley time till winter. We will kill you all, the Army had said in a stern message.

The Government of India has given the Army a free hand to deal with the situation. The Army won't be bogged down by political interference while dealing with the situation in the Valley, the government has made it clear.

The tempo is up and the Army is going for the kill. There is no other way to deal with terrorists, highly placed sources say. The approach is more aggressive and while engaging with terrorists this is no scope for dialogue. They have to be gunned down and there is no two ways about it, the source also said.

While on one hand the Army is dealing with the militants in the Valley on the other it is hitting Pakistan posts by carrying out punitive fire assaults. These strikes have ensured that at least 20 terrorists have been wiped out. More importantly the posts that are hit strategically were the ones aiding infiltration of terrorists by providing cover fire.

There is only one way to deal with the problem and that is with an iron hand. India will show Pakistan that it is no longer a soft state. If there is a genuine attempt made by Pakistan to talk peace, then it could be considered. However the issue of terrorism will be dealt with an iron fist, India has made it clear.

Finance and defence minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday emphasised that the force was not only dominating the LoC but also applying pressure on militant cadres.

While on hand, the Army has sent in 4,000 of its men into the Valley to eradicate the terrorists on the other hand, those police personnel with residences in South Kashmir where the problem is immense have been advised not to go home for another 2 months.
