I think its the GM Beat. Which used to be Daewoo Matiz? Not a bad car but GM had no clue how to operate in Indian market. Anyway GM India was a front for chinese automakes are thankfully exited the Indian market. The Beat is still produced for export markets.
We studied GM failure in India as he case study in strategic management. Why the GM failed in India though they have many more time patents than Maruti and global presence in sale? The main reason was that its products were not India specific. They bought the cars sold in International market and try to sell in India. On other hand Mruti had an overwhelming presence in India and India was their main market,. Indian Suzuki is bigger than parent company in Japan and hence their entire focus was Indian Market. They made all of their products for India.
Secondly, GM changed their CEOs very frequently did not allow any one individual to properly understand and respond to the requirements of Indian public.
Quality is conformance to requirements. What is quality for one individual may not be the quality for others so not necessarily a product is a hit in international market may be a hit in Indian Market.

You know what happened in mobile handsets right. Overconfidence kills. Ask micromax.
dont compare apples & oranges ................ micromax was not making handsets .......it was just selling Chinese Handsets with micromax Logo ...............Automobile Industry is different suzuki ,honda , Tata , mahindra etc have established factories /service centers / customer base and it will be very difficult for any Chinese company to attract buyers .........Indians can buy cheapest Chinese phones ( worth 100-200 $ ) and throw it after 1-2 years ( small investment = less risk ), but they dont buy any costly Chinese phone .
they will not spend lakhs of rupees on Chinese Cars .............Chinese Motorcycles /tractors were launched in India and failed miserably .

Hyundai tops after-sales customer satisfaction; Tata, Maruti chasing

Commenting on achieving the second rank, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business,

Tata Motors
, said, "While the Mass market average has gone down by three points (880 to 877), we have gone up by five points. With enriched purchase experience and consistent quality of service as its key pillars, customer centricity remains imperative."

He also told that Tata has been consistently pushing boundaries, connecting aspirations of its customers with a special focus on personalized attention to the customer, nation-wide service camps etc.

"This recognition is a testament to our commitment to offer customer-centric and tailor-made product service solutions. We thank our customers for their continued trust in the brand. While we have improved our rank from last year, we will give our best and aim for rank one," he added

Those who say Tata has pathetic aftersales, this should be put on their faces.

Bangalore ?? Just go for it eyes closed, its perfect for that traffic.

Also, technically it has one of the best AMT systems out there.

Yeah, its a real good feeling to drive it too. Unfortunately they dont have it in black for XZA+ variant, that's a downer. And I have always only come across good reviews about it so, yeah guess thats gonna be my C-SUV then.

Apparently Tata is going to provide a very User Friendly, DIY customisation option for prospective buyers of the upcoming Tata Harrier (earlier H5X or Q501). This would allow customers to have a customized car that could have all the features that he/she desires to have and can exclude whatever they don't.
I cannot verify this but people at an automotive forum were talking about it.

I think this would be a great move, suppose a person wants to buy Auto tranny at low cost, he would remove all the features he can live without and just order the car. That way he can have a low cost Automatic. Kudos to Tata if this is true.

Exactly, MG motors (now chinese) is apparently testing an SUV in India which is going to cost about 15-20 lakhs, with the same engine that is offered by Harrier and Compas, the Fiat 2.0 MJD. Now why would a sane minded person would buy a Chinese MG car, that has extremely thin service network and unknown reliability. Why wouldn't they go for the Harrier that takes design queues from JLR and has an extensive service network and known reliability of brand.

Swedes under Chinese payroll. What's stopping Mahindra and Tata doing the same? Not like they don't have the cash...

@aditya10r I know Tata is putting out decent SUV designs, but if you want to know what 2017 designs look like, check out this Chinese SUV. Can Tata or Mahindras latest compete with this? :scared2: Our desi companies better get their act together real quick.

Sorry for the very late reply to an old post.
Ok, now let me tell you what, do you even know how advanced Tata's newest platforms are ?? Something that only the likes of top german and Japanese manufacturers possess, the AMP platforms, which means that all the products can be interrelated to each other through a common platform, that would increase the commonality between parts and would decrease the time of production and also decrease the costs. For the record go ahead and see Tata's new H5X (harrier) and H7X along with that do look for 45X premium hatchback and also the yet to be revealed future C, D segment sedans, all would share the two AMP platforms. Mahindra on the other hand is busy rebranding existing products from its own subsidiaries. Although Marazzo is a very competent product.

Maruti Swift crash test – Structure unstable, 2 star safety rating, lower than Vitara Brezza
After testing the India-made Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon SUVs, Global NCAP has crash tested yet another Maruti Suzuki car.
The Maruti Swift which was crash tested featured 2 airbags and had a kerb weight of 1,079 kgs. It managed to score only 2 star safety rating, which is really low. Export spec variant has been awarded 3 star rating by Euro NCAP.
Global NCAP said, “The two star result for adult occupants is due to high compression to the driver chest, unstable structure and poor protection for the feet explained by pedal displacement on the driver side.”

Well that's something not so surprising, although I thought that it would achieve better safety ratings just for the fact that 2 airbags, abs ebd, ISOFIX etc are standard.
But still I knew it is a Tin Can mileage-fanatics car. The best Swift was the 2005-2011 first gen model.
