Looks like they were waiting for Armata to show up. Now like a spoilt brat they want everything to have common platform. And his uncle DRDO will promise him something he can't really deliver.

The following variants are planned to be developed on the FRCV platform:
(a)Tracked Main Battle Tank - Primary variant.
(b)Tracked Light Tank.
(c)Wheeled Version.
(d)Bridge Layer Tank (BLT).
(e)Trawl Tank and Mine Ploughs.
(f)Armoured Recovery Vehicle(ARV).
(g)Self Propelled Artillery Gun/Howitzer.
(h)Air Defence Gun/Msl System.
(j)Artillery Observation Post Vehicle.
(k)Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle.
(l)Armoured Ambulance.
Except for the wheeled version, i think IA wants FRCV to be like a BMP-2 platform in terms of flexibility. As far as DRDO is considered we will have to wait and see, if they will get involved. i wish they are not selected.

616 Gentlemen Cadets at Indian Military Academy Passing Out Parade

DEHRADUN: The Indian Military Academy held its 136th Regular Course passing out parade in Dehradun today. Under a blue summer sky and the magnificent Chetwode building in the background, 616 Gentlemen cadets including 71 foreign cadets from 11 friendly nations - 44 from Afghanistan, 12 from Tazakistan, four from Bhutan, one each from Maldives, Lesotho, Fiji, Kazakhstan, two from Seychelles, Nigeria and Tanzania - joined the passing out brigade at the drill square. The Chief of Naval Staff Admiral RK Dhowan was the Reviewing Officer at the Parade. Also present were anxious parents, wardens and guardians who witnessed this memorable moment in the life of every cadet as they crossed the Chetwood threshold to become officers of the Army. It was a memorable day for young officers as well as the culmination of hard work, determination and training eventually saw their dream come true. A two-hour programme included a parade inspection, sword of honour, piping and oath ceremony which ended with the young officers voice resonating in the Academy singing 'Kadam kadam badhaye ja.' Keeping alive the glorious tradition of producing excellent officers, the Indian Military Academy Dehradun stands tall as one of the premier institutes in the world today.

I don't think that BMP-2 is a flexible enough platform. What they essentially want is Armata family of systems. Indian or Russian is yet to seen?

You cannot have Gripen too after choosing Rafale. MOD and Parrikar will kick their asses left and right.

Going off topic.

The real life Rajnikanth from Indian Army who fought 40 guys alone. Have you heard of him?

31095 SHARES FacebookTwitter

I bet many of us remember the epic train fighting sequence from the Rajnikanth movie Robot, where he fights more than 40 goons to save the heroine from getting raped, getting a flashback? Yes! Me too, let’s admit it, it was really awesome. But what if I say, something like that has happened in reality. What if I say that one person single handedly took over 40 goons during loot and that person was not a robot nor a machine but a human being like everyone else, no I am not making up a story, trust me, it’s true.

I am talking about non-other than Bishnu Shreshtha, an Ex Gorkha Regiment Jawan of the Indian army who was on his way back to Gorakhpur from his home town in Maurya express (Hatia-Gorakhpur) on September 2 2010, when 15-40 armed robbers attacked the train near Chittaranjan, West Bengal and started snatching valuables from the passengers and tried to rape an 18 year old girl.

The brave Jawan without caring about his life took out his khukhuri knife and charged over to the robbers. Being professionally trained in combat proved to be an advantage for him, he managed to fight for a full 10 minutes in which 3 bandits were dead and six of them were injured and the rest of them were badly injured, but during the fight he did end up injuring one of his arms which landed him into the hospital for a few months.

Post the incident when he was offered cash as a token of gratitude from the girl’s family, he completely rejected giving the following reason “It was my duty”. Now that’s what I call a true hero, and a great human being. Officers like Bishnu Shreshtha still keep the faint glimmer of hope lit in our hearts that humanity still exists amongst us.

It’s quite a shame in a country of millions only a handful of people even know about this incident, I will rest the fact of knowing the ex Jawan’s name. When we read the newspaper every day, we find many things common which are written in big columns, for example: office corruption, bribery, rape, political party issues, superstar interview or controversy, etc.. The things we don’t find are these acts of bravery, and if luckily mentioned then it would be found in small corners where we would have to look twice or search specifically as if tracking a location in a map. Neither had I seen any interviews of him, nor any other sort of recognition was given to him. Is this really justified?

And not just only this brave Jawan, there are many brave soldiers out there who fight for us each and every day, but don’t get that proper respect which they should, and to top it all officer Bishnu Shreshtha’s name was not even mentioned in the official Indian army website under the Sena medal bravery award, though many websites on the internet say he was awarded.

To be true, I am feeling ashamed that I got to know about this brave hero after such a long time. So via this article this is my small tribute to the brave hero who is a true example of an exceptional human being, brave officer and a true Indian. “SALUTE”.

Three militants were gunned down by the Army when they were trying to infiltrate along the Line of Control in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir. "Suspicious movement was noticed by troops near the fencing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector around midnight. The intruders were challenged leading to a gunfight," a senior army official said. The alert Army foiled the infiltration bid on Saturday night by killing the three ultras. He said the gunbattle lasted couple of hours and three bodies were recovered during the searches in the morning. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the slain terrorists. The recovery include 3 AKs,1 UBGL, 12 magazines, 300 rounds and other items. He said the militants were cutting the fencing erected along the LoC when the troops detected their activity using night vision devices. Three infiltration bids were foiled in Tangdhar sector along the LoC in Kupwara district on May 25, May 31 and June 6 this year.

Done deal? Iran nuclear agreement to be announced Monday, report says

Two diplomats involved in ongoing talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna told the Associated Press Sunday that that final details of the pact were still being worked out. Once it is complete, a formal, final agreement would be open to review by officials in the capitals of Iran and the six world powers at the talks, they said. The diplomats involved demanded anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the negotiations publicly.

The biggest takeaway from the meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, was the acceptance of necessity (AON) for replacing L70 and Zu 23mm guns for army’s air defence under Buy-and-Make category. Army will go in for 428 guns at a total cost of Rs 16,900 crore. Replacing of these vintage guns was a major priority for the army. The DAC approval will now pave the way for issuance of a Request for Proposal (RFP). Only two Indian companies — Punj Llyod and Bharat Forge — had responded to an army request for information on the procurement plan.
Among other proposals cleared for the army was the acquisition of 14,000 units of multi-spectrum camouflage net, which block visual, thermal and radar signatures from enemy eyes.
One of its corps will see a replacement of the electronic warfare system, built by BEL, at a cost of Rs 265 crore. A Rs 580 crore proposal for 3.5 lakh modules of B1 modular charger system for 155mm artillery guns was also approved by DAC. The contract is likely to go to a French firm.

Do they even make towed AA anymore? Maybe they are looking for something like Skyshield?

Well they won't be able to shoot down any F-16 with these in 2015, ha but Direct Firing Role on baki bunkers aur helicopters ko K.O karne ke liye kaafi hai. You never know what exactly is the Indian armed forces are looking for. Intne saare tenders/RFIs, weird requirements (which btw keeps changing costantly) going on, :hair: bc it's really hard to keep track on all of them.

Skyshield nehi toh ye:  ZU-23/30 M1-3

The two global tenders launched in 2007 and 2009, which covered the delivery of 428 air-defence guns, were cancelled due to single-vendor situations.

In addition, the 2013 tender, submitted to Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Thales, Bumar, Rosoboronexport and BAE Systems, failed to generate any response, according to Defense News.

The army is seeking guns of a calibre greater than 30mm that can fire 1000 rounds per minute, with the ability to engage air targets day and night using fire-control radars and electro-optical fire-control systems.

Purchased along with ammunition, the new guns are expected to safeguard areas of tactical importance in the mountains, plains, desert and semi-desert terrain.
Somebody needs to kick their asses urgently. Also Anthony deserves Nishan-e-Pakistan for his contribution towards the welfare of Pakistan.

They are looking for capabilities of CIWS in AA guns and are spending more than $2.6 billion on this. These people are corrupt as fuck.
