i ment to have integrated Avation battalion like for example the

Madras regiment has in total 19 battalions why cant we raise dedicated avation battalions like this

the final battalion in the madras roster is the 28th

but what if the 29th ,30th and 31st battalions are raised as dedicated avation battalions

so the Roster will be

2nd Battalion (old 75th Carnatic Infantry)
3rd Battalion (old 79th Carnatic Infantry)
4th Battalion (old 83rd Wallajahbad LI)
5th Battalion
6th Battalion
7th Battalion (Shandaar Saat chamkte rahe )
8th Battalion
9th Battalion Madras Regiment (former State Forces unit)
10th Battalion
11th Battalion (old Territorial Battalion)
12th Battalion (old Territorial Battalion)
16th Battalion (former State Forces unit)
17th Battalion (former State Forces unit)
18th Battalion (former State Forces unit)
19th Battalion
25th Battalion (old garrison battalion)
26th Battalion (old garrison battalion)
27th Battalion (old garrison battalion)
28th Battalion (old coastal defence battalion)
29th Battalion ( Aviation(attack))
30th Batalion ( Aviation(Transport))
31st Battalion ( Aviation(Recon and Intel))

Well if we go for aviation wing, then done kind of operational structure will ge formed. But don't know if we can have of the kind you are saying as thst would then require very vast assets for different battalions.

Maybe at the division level. I think our military pros can better answer that.
What is the US structure?

I din't like this idea.......why Should the Army have its own Wing made of air?........why don't they make wings out of birds' feathers?

that is because the army will support itself by placing less burdens on the Air forces shoulders in terms of Tatical real time CAS and A2G strikes

I don't deny its value. We even have the money for Raptors. The question is, will the A-10s even ever be offered to us ?

A fact in case is that the USAF is the sole user of these killing machines. The system hasn't been offered to their closest allies haven't, why do you think it will be offered to us ?
India does not have money for raptors those are very expensive.About A-10 .u see in MMRCA competition they are offering us SH and SV ( super hornet and super viper ) so if at all ask for A-10 who knows they might sell it to us

Tomcat,
we can have a separate division of air assets on the lines of the mechanized division. With the services getting wired, calling in for CAS would be very easy.

We do have planes for close air support with the IAF right? Maybe some should be transferred to the army and a new sqd raised. A10s are too good, but I would prefer a Russian or European alternative, provided they have it. At 12 Million per piece it should be worth it!
there is a russian alternative .Its SU 25 for CAS missions but A-10 is better,Russians policy is that CAS is through helicopters and not aircraft hence they did not develop Su 25 much

We do(obviously not for 128 of them). Anyhow, lets not get into what is not possible.
About the A-10, Super Hornets and the falcons are already in use with many countries throughout the world. A-10 has not been sold to a single nation till now, and the plans for selling second hand A-10s to Turkey were also scrapped.
A-10s are not one of those which will be offered if we ask for them.
Like the EA-18 Growler, F-22, B-2s and other masters in their art, the A-10 Thunderbolts are exclusively for the USAF/USN.

the raptor costs around 125 million and certainly we cant afford much of them .plus USA will be crazy if they sell it to us .US senate will be clearing EA 18 growler for India
if USA sell us A-10 good .if not we can go for SU 25 from russia

they are baiting us by sweetening the deal. they want to make some clean bucks before closing the viper line though the machine itself is pretty good.

as far as the army is concerned i believe they should stay the hell away from fixed- wing assets those are the airforce's babies however i do believe that each strike force should be attached to a robust and capable chopper escort, the modern attack helo can do a better job of providing CAS than any fixed wing aircraft(except maybe the frogfoot and the warthog). however the airforce needs to be involved in as to provide air cover for these helos.
