Yaar Rudy, that's what intrigues me too.
I know ofb dosent make 122 mm artillery shells like pof of Pakistan does.
And yes it is a field firing.
If it were our shells , they would have been painted yellow .
We paint all our HE shells of any calibre in yellow .
While Russians and former soviet countries paint them in bluish grey
Any guesses?

whatever they are ordering, I want to know WHEN are they going to order?

Does anyone know the exact day of order? hasn't the proposal been released, why is no one in the army or MOD making a decision now.

This RuMoD released video shows the surgical precision of the combination of drone-based laser marking and laser guided artillery shells.
Video Backup: Link
Seems like a very cost effective solution and add some control features over unguided artillery. Although we have to safe guard drones. How difficult is it to use drones in such an area?

Anywhere an MBT can go ATAGS can go. >40T MBTs are going right up to the front, arty will always be behind MBTs anyway so if they are happy to get MBT there then how come the 18t ATAGS is suddenly an issue?
How about GOI directly paying bribes to Indian Army officers from some shell account, and sending their kids to foreign universities on Tax payer money, just for purchasing Desi maal.. :confused1:

I'm now fully convinced ATAGS is a fine system that meets all our requirements. And that mere fact sent panic attacks down the import alley.
Performance can’t be questioned so they have to use this arbitrary requirement (weight)

the ATAGS’s development has actually exceeding smooth and even the most vocal critics of IDDM have barely looked in its direction. All of a sudden this RFI comes out, it’s obvious what the game is

they are Arjun-ing the ATAGS in real time. A token order may come (100-150) but 1000s of foreign guns will get contracted too

they would rather not accept it because accepting gibs from same party that also facilitates their paychecks will bind them with their interests, unke haath fir khulle nahi rahenge and high chance UN Army Genruls Afsars etc would eventually end up loosing their leverage

such risks are way less in accepting gibs from phoren private vendors

Guys, i am not that adept with defence stuff, but tell me,is there any slightest hope for ATAGS? Or is it 100% gone permanently?

Also, even if the army wants to acquire foreign guns, doesnt the government (DAC) have to sign that? Does the govt have no control at all on what is bought?

‘If it is entirely Army’s choice then ATAGS is on the back burner. But the government and especially the PM will not let that happen. It will be back as Army’s top choice. A few head honchos in the Army’s purchase department will get transferred or retired. Worst case scenario the person who insist on 15 ton weight will get the boot.

So you mean to say that govt has control on who gets promoted and who gets transferred and stuff? So its like judiciary where the govt has no control?

If thats the case we can be hopeful right..? The way govt shoved LCA down the throat, Inwonder what stops them from doing the same for all indigenous weapons

Government has power but they have other priorities too. We are not a military state like porkistan where army will be given top most priority.
MOD expects gernails to do all the tasks
