Only if the UAE is going to put them up for sale, also the UAE M2000 will need to be first upgraded with India specific requirements which will be an expensive affair(We paid $52 million for each Mirage upgrade, whereas a Tejas Mk1A costs $39 million).
They are already upgraded recently by UAE there is slim chance for India getting it now.

Tejas Mk1/1a .... Well IAF has already ordered 123 of these despite not meeting all the parameters. That too will come in years. Don't blame IAF for incompetency and poor management of ADA etc.

IAF never asked for gold plated ones... Only But simply asked for Mirage from the 70/80s .

But politics picked Jags production and divided 150 for both but cancelled Mirage production line due to politics and then bought some Mig 29s but that too in a small number and production line never materialised. Instead we produced more Mig 21s to meet the squadron strength result we are still dragging them..

Rafale was offered when French stopped production of Mirage 2k.

About India taking to UAE or Qatar, didn't find anything in media. Only 24 Mirages as for spare cannibalism were acquired from the French
UAE potential disposal of M2K reported in IDRW in 2020. India failed to take advantage, it seems.

This website is garbage. But given India's history of failing to capitalise on opportunities, it's a fair possibility.
IIRC UAE could not agree a price with the potential buyer of UAE's M2K's. I think that was India.

Tejas Mk1 and Mk1A are superior to the Mirage 2000 in every aspect except for payload(since one is a medium category aircraft and the other a light category aircraft).
No aircraft on God's Green Earth can meet IAF ever shifting goalposts.
The Tejas program initially was envisioned as a replacement for the Mig-21, not the Mirage.
IAF incompetency was proved the day when it took them 2 years to sign the deal for 83 Tejas Mk1A just over some stupid price negotiations.
They would have started receiving the first batches of Tejas Mk1A had they signed the deal 2 years earlier.

And we paid more for the upgrade of a Mirage than the cost of a new Mk1A

I suggest ordering another 1/2 squadrons of Mk1A and accelerating production. Production of 24 a year would be possible 2026? onwards. Build up export marketing and sales and after-sales support expertise and get into the export business with Mk1A. Will stand India in good stead for exporting Mk2.

If it is just too much like hard work to switch from failure to success, get on with buying foreign aircraft for IAF.

I feel that more no. of Tejas MK1A orders will only be given after IAF gets one in their hands. If HAL is able to deliver on its promises with MK1A and if MK2 isn't ready then IAF will go with more MK1A's for sure.

Time is of the essence for IAF where fighters are concerned, isn't it? How long between IAF/GoI deciding to order an Mk1A and it being delivered to IAF?

BEL To Supply D-29 EW Suites for IAF MiG-29s And Establish EW Test Range

ndia’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) concluded two contracts for the Indian Air Force (IAF) on March 29. BEL will supply Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) suites for fighter aircraft. The Instrumented Electronic Warfare Range (IEWR), worth $147 million (₹1109 crore), would also be established and used to test airborne EW equipment and validate their deployment in various operational scenarios.

Overt Defense learns that the advanced EW suite is the D-29 system developed by Defence Avionics Research Establishment (DARE), a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) laboratory, for IAF’s MiG-29UPG aircraft. About 42 D-29 systems are to be supplied by BEL, which is the production partner. These EW suites will significantly enhance the survivability of IAF MiG-29 aircraft while undertaking operational missions against ground-based as well as airborne fire control and surveillance radars. The suites are being bought for $264 million (₹1993 crore).

D-29 suite (BEL)
The D-29 is an integrated internal EW system for Radar warning and jamming that encompasses RWR, ECM, ESM functions and uses active phased arrays for selectively jamming the multiple threat radars. It serves primarily as a self-protection jammer, detecting and providing the position of the RF sources illuminating the aircraft and applying the appropriate DFRM based jamming technique between 6-18 GHz. The system mainly consists of Unified Receiver Exciter Processor (UREP), Solid State Transmit / Receive Unit (SSTRU) with Active Array Units (AAU) and a liquid cooling system.

IAF has three squadrons of the MiG-29: No. 28 Squadron, No. 47 Squadron and No. 223 Squadron. The fleet is being converted to UPG standard, with upgrades to be completed by 2022. The first six IAF MiG-29s were upgraded in Russia with another 56 aircraft upgraded at 11 Base Repair Depot in India using kits supplied by Russia. The MiG-29UPG is equipped with a Zhuk-M2E radar, OLS-UEM IRST, cockpit with multi-function displays, a Thales helmet-mounted target designator, a Sagem navigation system, an Israeli ECM station, conformal fuel tanks, inflight refueling and the D-29 suite. The D-29 System has completed flight evaluation from users for ground and airborne emitters in India. Modification of all six aircraft initially upgraded in Russia had been completed for the installation of the system according to DARE.
