*Humour from IAF*

Rohitash Singh Ahlawat, a Jat boy from Haryana got selected for NDA and then went on to become an ace fighter pilot.

The Indian Air Force had organised an air show at Yalhanka Air Base in Bengaluru, and daredevil aerobatic stunt flying was the main attraction. Rohitash was part of the aerobatic display team, and he was to go solo in his MiG-29.

His parents were in town visiting their son at his station of posting, so they were there among the spectators. The old couple's chests swelled with pride as Flt Lt Rohitash Singh Ahlawat's name was announced. The father proudly said to everyone sitting around_ "म्हारो छोरो से!"

Rohitash took off with a thunderous boom and for the next 10 minutes he did all the aerobatic stunts that he could make his supersonic bird perform_ the loop, the twist, the spin, the roll, the Cuban 8, the vertical Charlie, the tail slide_ everything! Then he landed, parked the bird in it's hanger and joined his wife and parents among the spectators.

As Rohitash touched his parents' feet, his mother hugged him and said_ "तू दिल छोटा ना करे, छोरा| तू और कोशिश कर, घणी कोशिश कर, लगातार कोशिश करता रहे| मन्ने विश्वास से के एक दिन थारा हवाई जहाज जरुर थारे काब्बू में आ जावेगा!"...😂😂🤣🤣😁

Excuse me for a naive question but do the IAF Chinooks have aerial refuelling probe? I haven't come across any image that would suggest that they did.

There are no naive questions here:
The IAF variant of the Chinook does not have mid-air refuelling capability and uses additional fuel tanks instead. IAF lacks air refueling capability for slower aircraft.

isn't there a scope of IAF to ask for a UAV which is designed expressly for launching bunch of 1 or 2 tonne 200km long range A2G missiles from an altitude of 15000 feet and above, and come back?
it's only job would be to go up, launch missiles from stand off distance and come back.

muricans and europeans may not need such an innovation, but we do since ours is primarily a defensive doctrine.

IAF IS NOW READYING TO GET THE THIRD S-400 AIR DEFENCE SYSTEM FROM RUSSIA
The IAF is now readying to get the third S-400 system, which will be placed in the East, the first one having been located in the North. While the S-400 has a range of about 400 km, the S-500, also more versatile, has a longer range-- of about 600-650 km

New Delhi: Despite the two-month long war with Ukraine and the problems it has encountered, Russia has, so far, ensured that deliveries of the S-400 air-defence system, despite reports of delays, are on time. The S-400 has anti-aircraft and anti-missile capabilities and India has ordered five systems for the air force reports TimesNow.

After the first system arrived, Russia, as per planned, has sent a training module for Indian Air Force personnel so that they can understand the functioning of the system better. The training module arrived in March and the second system, and three more will follow, is expected to arrive next month. The IAF, sources said, has already begun work with the training module, which arrived roughly speaking, on time.

The IAF is now readying to get the third S-400 system, which will be placed in the East, the first one having been located in the North. There is still thinking within the government about additional units of the S-400 or, if it were possible, the S-500. While the S-400 has a range of about 400 km, the S-500, also more versatile, has a longer range-- of about 600-650 km. How this works out in the era of Atmanirbharta or self-reliance remains to be seen, but if additional S-400s are bought, it can be seen as a repeat order.

There is also the international situation, with the war in the Ukraine going on for over two months. Whether India would buy additional systems remains to be seen. During the 2+2 talks with the United States in Washington DC recently, the US secretary of state, Anthony Blinken and his colleague, defence secretary Lloyd Austin, did not bring up the S-400 in the talks, but fresh sales are another matter altogether and India will have to take a call on it.

Buy Global, Make in India route is better for the foreign vendor and not so good for India compared to the Strategic Partner route so I guess no foreign vendor wants to transfer any technology beyond screwdriver-giri to India and IAF is more than happy with it since they don't care about technology and want only the birds. We will spend $20 B for these 114 and get almost nothing in return.
