When is he retiring?ALH grounded
Mig grounded
Su-30MKI, Mig29, Submarines without spares parts
Americans are unreliable
Rest of things in trials
72 years of hard work of UN Generals has brought Indian to its knees.
Current COAS will retire in next few months. In 2 years service Poor guy will be known for only 2 things
1) 114
2) Son promoted as Rafale pilot.
But on retirement day we will hear news like "Outgoing COAS revolutionised IAF"
I think this year in September. When is he retiring?
wasnt IAF going to buy few mig jets . what happened to that , anyone know ?
Looks like Russia might need it for themselves.wasnt IAF going to buy few mig jets . what happened to that , anyone know ?

There were two plans -Looks like Russia might need it for themselves.
Had IAF ordered atleast 80 Tejas Mk1 from the get-go, they wouldn't be in the situation they are today. There were two plans -
- Buy some more Mig-29s Never took off, govt. not even sanctioning MRCA, heck not even follow-up orders of 36 more Rafales.
- Buy mothballed Mirage-2000s Again never happened. IAF is pushing for MRCA instead of such band-aid deals to keep older jets airworthy.
But Govt. be like, jet mera beta HAL banayega ! So now we are all waiting for Tejas Mk1A / Mk2 to rollout, govt. eyes filling with pride, while IAF praying China/Pakistan doesn't attack us meanwhile.
US had grounded helicopter due to crashes that killed 12 soldiers -
Seems like it was on live practice -
- AGM-88 Hellfires
- AIM-92 Stingers
- Rocket pod installed but empty
- Longbow radar installed
Precautionary landings are mainly due to technical issues. US aircraft I have heard have a high level of monitoring and danger detection which warns before a technical issue can cause an irreparable crash, hence we see so many "precautionary" landings.US had grounded helicopter due to crashes that killed 12 soldiers -
All U.S. Army helicopters grounded amid safety fears
Army Chief of Staff General James McConville has said that "the safety of our aviators is our top priority."www.newsweek.com
There was also an incident (mentioned in this report) of two AH64s involved in mid air collision.

Am guessing this mid air US collision & our scenario (precautionary landing) are due to different root cause reasons.. ??

Hey look on the bright side atleast this happened before money was paid and designs firmed up to accept their engine .
Guess RR can kiss its chances goodbye in the competition to partner GTRE to develop a new TF for AMCA Mk-2 . This means the race's been reduced to a 1 horse race - SAFRAN who'd steel their position leaving us little ground for is to bargain.
The old MoD plot of dragging negotiations forever never ceases. We can't even cover our own goddamned bases & we go full steam ahead as if to negotiate from a position of strength.
MGT is under the aegis of GE. HAL has signed a contract with GE. GE & RR have an agreement between them.Hey look on the bright side atleast this happened before money was paid and designs firmed up to accept their engine .
But the marine gas turbine ? That is a single vendor situation already .. now down to 0 vendors. In the year 2035 we will read news reports about how project 18 destroyers were delayed because expected powerplant changed .. like it happened with project 15 a
The good news keeps coming don't they.MGT is under the aegis of GE. HAL has signed a contract with GE. GE & RR have an agreement between them.
Does anybody have any news on the Super 30 upgrade of Su-30 MKI.
