Is orca project still a thing?
No as of now.Is orca project still a thing?
I see so they chose tejas mk2 over orca basicallyNo as of now.
Once TEDBF becomes reality IAF may re-evaluate its stance.
IAF is more leaning towards single engine Tejas Mk. 2.
Tejas Mk. 2 is expected to have lower operating cost compared to TEDBF with more or less same capabilities.
They haven't chosen anything.I see so they chose tejas mk2 over orca basically
Alright tnx any idea when will mk2 is supposed to take its first flight? They haven't chosen anything.
IAF only talked about inducting 6 squadrons of Mk. 2 after public backlash.
Till IAF actually inducts the aircraft one can't say anything for sure.
As of now ORCA is out of picture.
Why not phase out these old aircrafts ASAP and place some more orders of Tejas? Is there anything that Tejas Mk1 FOC can't do and Mig 21Bisons can?
Not to throw water on the 'we need more Tejas' argument - we certain do, but I'll not be surprised if the MiG21 accidents of late are due to human/environment errors and not material defect. Why not phase out these old aircrafts ASAP and place some more orders of Tejas? Fuck it fuck it fuck it at this point now
There has been 400 plus mig 21 crashes till now . And two hundred pilots have been killed . Shit happens few times not 400 times .Shit happens.
Mig 21 lost, nothing of value was lostI wish somebody would sue IAF in court for using MiG-21 and needlessly endangering lives of pilots and the public in large.not gonna happen but just a wishfully thinking
Headlines in all talk shows and news paper in few daysI wish somebody would sue IAF in court for using MiG-21 and needlessly endangering lives of pilots and the public in large.not gonna happen but just a wishfully thinking
Oh yes - blame the bird, not an Air Force that forces young Flt Lts to qualify for night flying in an airframe that has always been demanding of pilots - a high performance jet that needs years and years of flying to master. There has been 400 plus mig 21 crashes till now . For some reason, the IAF leadership doesn't want to get rid of these old aircrafts. I still remember when Parikar said "buddhe vimano ko retire kar diya jaayea".Oh yes - blame the bird, not an Air Force that forces young Flt Lts to qualify for night flying in an airframe that has always been demanding of pilots - a high performance jet that needs years and years of flying to master.
Military flying is a dangerous business, night flying on an old UM trainer (remember this is not the new built Bison but an even older machine) smacks of a leadership that is utterly retarded.
LOL - this has been the plan for last 4 years. Kuch naya nahi. Saving their asses after outrage. In a major step to ensure flight safety, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will retire 51 Squadron based out of Srinagar air base comprising the MiG-21 Bison aircraft by September 30 this year. only three of the MiG 21 bison squadrons would be left in the Air Force, of which one would be retired every year and the fleet would be totally gone by the year 2025," government sources told India Today."
Indian Air Force to retire MiG-21 squadron by September end, all planes to be phased out by 2025
