Brother in arms? More like, "Brother I am gonna take your arms, your legs, and your soul with all these multi-billion dollar arms deals. Don't know how many would agree with my opinion, but I believe the only reason US is pretending to be India's friend is to milk us for all the money we got. It is also the reason why the US will never take any actual steps to counter Pakistan. Cause if it does, India might not want to open its checkbook so often. The lesser we deal with the United States, the better off we are.

How much of this can be made in India anyways? Will take time, ISTAR will be desi, aircraft platform will be videshi. And rest you can’t have a Military Industrial Complex overnight.
Predator -> TAPAS-BH-201 or should we say our drone program is failure. Ghatak UCAV is also in pipeline.
NASAMS 2 -> QRSAM, VL-SRSAM and Akash SAM (IAF Not Keen On NASAMS-II)
ISTAR -> DRDO has necessary technologies and is ready to develop and deliver such aircraft

Off the above only P8I and C-130J can be justified.

If you never accept indigenous developed product you can never achieve self-sufficiency.
Make in India is of no use if you can't accept locally designed product. Design and manufacturing go hand in hand. Just take example of HAL they even import screws needed for aircraft.
History is filled with numerous examples where countries and its armed force have accepted products that were not proven or best or most economical just to support local industry.

All I can see from the current establishment is all big talk but no follow through.

Balancing geopolitics with weapons purchase is a very dangerous game
We actually don't need to balance geopolitics with weapons purchase with respect to US.
If you analyze we import a lot of stuff from US companies.
About 40%-60% of imports from PRC are actually material/product that has been designed/developed in US or by US companies but manufactured in PRC.

We are milking USofA
We are not thots FFS
You could say India is at the short end of the stick, if we were not gaining anything
We are nurturing our Local MIC which at present is at it's nascent stage, but same time atleast trying maintain a reasonable capability with imported maal
Again, we are milking USofA

All the above we can develope ourselves .
Iam Infact happe that , iaf will not buy nasam missile.
We are already self sufficient in SAM tech .
With only vshorad and xrsam remaining.
NASAMS is just virtue signalling, as @mist_consecutive pointed out, it's a shitty system

How? Please elaborate on this.

Elaborate what we are gaining with this deal? US is not going to invest in Indian R&D or manufacturing not they are going to share know-how.
We are nurturing our Local MIC which at present is at it's nascent stage, but same time atleast trying maintain a reasonable capability with imported maal
How? We are going to purchase all this items off-the shelf. How will it be nurturing are local manufacturing? Indian developed systems also provide us reasonable capability. People need to stop treating Indian developed system as sub-standard compared to western system just because they are developed in India and not west.
Again, we are milking USofA
Again how? Please elaborate on this.

Hafta vasooli so that we can continue cozying up with Russia & Iran.

We are the most neutral country in the history of humankind, probably ever will. We are buying S400s and Nuclear Submarine from Russia and at the same time, also buying Predator drones, P8Is & F-16/18 (we didn’t buy but were given the offer nonetheless).
No other country in this world (including Turkey who was flogged badly by USA for buying S400) has been able to balance things this well.
Buying things we don't need, like NASAMS is not balancing. Its just sad.

What have you been smoking man? How in the hell are we milking the "USofA"? Impossible for me to understand what you are trying to imply here, but if it has anything to do with reverse engineering, it ain't happening.
We are going to lose billions if not trillions before atmanirbhar kicks in. US is not only bleeding your economy with direct sales, it is also tanking the sale of your equipment to other countries. Nobody takes the US for a ride. They are riding this entire world with their dicks slapping on everyone's face.

Can we build an ISTAR aircraft right now with the same capabilities as a western one right fkking now if we wanted to???
Do we have a predator equivalent and build it in large numbers if we wanted to?
Same goes for anything and everything we have no equivalent here
We are nurturing our Local MIC, whatever you want to say
Doesn't mean we have capability of our own right now,
It's in American interest to not let our MIC develop as to keep the billions flowing

There are some things we Excel in, like The NASAMs purchase?????
But still western stuff is vastly superior especially when the deal is for critical tech required to maintain an edge over our adversaries at present

Atmanirbhar at this point is a meme
We need shit and we need it quick

Does right fkkking now justify the security threat that comes with these!!!?
I wonder if they checked for bugs in Air India One.

Farewell ACM Bhadauria sir.

It would have been better if this squadron would have been equipped with Rafale/Tejas by now(Only if things would have gone well over past 2 decades)

Beginning & end of career on same jet... grim reality.
