It should be noted that IAF now has operational clearance to freely target any jets crossing LOC without any warning. Before 27th Feb, RoE was to warn ingressing aircraft and make it immediately turn back. This constitutes of interceptors personally closing into the ingressing aircraft, visually identifying it and warn it by aggressive maneuvers and tracer cannon fire. If it keeps on going but surrenders (by lowering its speed, going in a straight path and lowering its flaps), aircraft is made to land. But if it doesn't surrender despite the warning, it is shot down.

But now, BVR game is on. Any ingressing aircraft is lightened up way before crossing LoC and shot at as soon as it violates LoC.

Well we have no other option for the Sukhois.

Russkies are using the R77-1 so it may be used by us too. Or may be the I Derby. ASRAAM is a wvr missile and not BVR. Also NATO missiles wont be integrated with a russian jet. So to match the american AMRAAMs MKIs and Migs have to either use the R77-1 or the I Derby.

Forgive me, but i am not too confident at Astra 1 matching the AMRAAM.

Remember, even Tejas cant use any European missile due to the Israeli radar.

What i also learnt is that METEOR can be integrated with the Mk2 in addition to the Rafale. Thats an option we must look at.

Uttam is some years far, the point is what can IAF do now to get back the BVR edge.

Right now PAF is happy to stay 20Km inside their airspace and fire Amraams at our Mkis forcing us to take evasive manuevers. By the time we recover, they have turned tail and gone back.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) discussed the future strategy on Pakistan, wherein Ajit Doval informed PM Modi that the three forces were ready for any action against the neighbouring country. He said they were only waiting for a political sanction.

To this end, PM Modi assured the forces -- Air, Navy and Army -- a free hand, while also asking them to ensure that no civilian died in Pakistan and that the targets were military-related.

The key takeaways from the meeting were:

1) The attacks will be target-specific

2) No non-military targets

3) Not only Pak-occupied Kashmir, the targets can also be inside Pakistan

4) The attacks will be pro-active, not reactive

Earlier also, after the February 14 Pulwama terror attack, PM Modi had said the forces were given a free hand against Pakistan.

Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the attack, that took the lives of as many as 40 CRPF personnel.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, however, continued to maintain Jaish was nowhere associated with Islamabad.

In retaliation to the Pulwama attack, India launched an airstrike on Pakistan's Balakot on February 26. Pakistan retaliated by bombing Indian military installations. The attempt was foiled by the Indian Air Force.

But IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistani forces and was later released as a peace gesture, as termed by Imran Khan, on March 1.

We don't need to militarily assault the entire Chicken's neck/ Ackhnoor Dagger. Capture of a few positions can make the entire Ackhnoor Dagger area unsustainable for PA. Just a few strategic positions means the PA North of the Narrow stretch that I marked on the map will be encircled and short on supplies.

The way it is looking that the low-intensity conflict at LOC is affecting Pakis badly and they desperately want de-escalation and ceasefire (They are begging US to intervene!).
As no one paying attention to Pakis as its a routine affair at LOC, they are trying to bait us to do something big that will catch the eyes of other countries who will immediately try and put pressure on India.

I think this low-level conflict suits India and we should stick with it. Bleed Paki with thousand cuts.

Second, Major issue is not capturing dagger but civvies headache. Chocking or taking dagger means bad press in International media who would scream human rights from top of the roof.

Ejecting by IA or evacuation by PA will result in them becoming Rohingayas and us becoming Myanmar.

No one can play victim card better than the Muslims.
