Strategic targets are any installation, group of buildings, vital installations such as factories, railways, oil refineries, electric power stations etc that are essential for the production and supply of materials considered vital to a country's war-making capacity and singled out for attack.

However, due to their accuracy, PGMs are also generally used against com centres, ammo dumps, troop concentrations, missile batteries, destruction of gun positions, force HQs etc and in our case, Jihadi training camps too.

No sir ... those may sometimes or mostly not be strategic targets...

what would comprise a strategic target?

A strategic target is one which will have strategic effects on the course and outcome of the War.....

Does that explain it? No !!

If IAF knocks down Pakistani nuclear Warhead storage area that would be strategic target .... If one Army division moves towards Skardu due to which Pakistan is compelled to move one of their reserve division to Skardu from Muzaffarabad but IA launches main attack on Mujjarabad. Due lack of one division having moved out of Muzaffarabad Pakistan looses Muzaffarabad that would be called a strategic move. If our SF knock down Sayed Salahauddin due to which LET is disorganised and diminished ... that is strategic target for counter terrorist War. If we knock down three chinese satellites due to which China would fail to launch their missile on deeper Indian areas then those three satellites are strategic target.

All these targets if destroyed will alter the outcome of a particular war or force a change in strategy or nullify a particular strategy... resulting in victory to our forces in |WAR| ......

#Update : Traffic on Lohar Bela road who add Nar Sher Ali Khan from rest PoK restricted by Pakistan Army. It seems operation for hiding casualties is in process. Civilians who live near LoC in bagh district r warned by PA to not come out from their homes.

First of all i don't think that k9 has used in j&k. That hilly terrain is not a tank country, like a tank k9 is also tracked one. I am bit skeptical about k9 in j&k, and if they have managed to bring k9 in j&k then its a remarkable job by army.
K9 is currently is one of the accurate howitzers in market today, like any self propelled artillery its main advantage is mobility.

Vajra is 155mm Gun How so more the 155mm guns the marriers it is. Those can be carried to entire valley sector as also in Punch Rajouri Sector. It is being further tested under realistic conditions. Where does one get such a chance. Next time L&T would be positioned a little better... the only advantage it would have is that being a tracked and armoured gun, it would provide better protection to the crew as also it would be faster to be deployed and redeployed...

Flexibility is an important principle of employment of Artillery which include flexibility by deployment of guns.... here it is..
