Oxford study reveals Pakistan is 3 times more dangerous to humanity than Syria

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Report says Pakistan has highest number of terrorist bases
  • Says Pakistan hosts or aids some of world's most dangerous terrorist groups
  • There are significant number of Afghan terror groups based in Pakistan
A study published by the Oxford University and the Strategic Foresight Group (SFG) has revealed that the risk posed to humanity by terrorism in Pakistan is three times the risk posed in Syria.

The report titled 'Humanity at Risk-Global Terror Threat Indicant (GTTI)', says, "Afghan Taliban and the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) pose the maximum threat to international security and Pakistan is placed on top of the list of countries with the highest number of terrorist bases and safe havens."

It said that if one looks at the most dangerous terrorist groups, based on hard facts and statistics, one finds that "Pakistan hosts or aids majority of them". "Also, there are a significant number of groups based in Afghanistan, which operate with the support of Pakistan."

The report has been prepared to discuss security challenges in the next decade and it presents an analytical framework for policymakers to tackle terrorism.

"The rise of competitive extremism of all shades, misuse of weapons of mass destruction and economic disruptions can undermine human progress or even survival in the period from now until 2030. They are all interlinked with terrorism," the report added.

The Strategic Foresight Group analysed some 200 groups actively involved in committing acts of terror in the first half decade of the 21st century. During that period, the groups who were motivated by their own interpretation of ideology accounted for only a fourth of almost 200 terror groups around the world.

Among these, ISIS has attracted much of media space in the last five years. But with swift rise and fall of ISIS, the Al-Qaeda remains the most resilient network. Until 2011, it was led by Osama Bin Laden but now his son, Hamza bin Osama bin Laden has emerged, as what sections of the media describe, as the "new crown prince of terror".

The report says that the most significant factor influencing the future of terror groups would be the support they get from states, intelligence agencies and criminal networks.

"The birth of Al-Qaeda was in Pakistan and then Pakistan influenced Afghanistan. Osama Bin Laden had a safe haven in a huge compound near the Pakistani military establishment in Abbottabad. The compound was much larger than the surrounding houses of retired Pakistani military officers. The occupants of the compound often bought expensive goods from a neighbourhood shop that most people in the vicinity could not afford. The presence of an important family in the compound was nothing but conspicuous," the report said.

The report has also given comprehensive details about global terror outfits operating from Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen and other countries who have linkages with each other.

The report also talks about the Jihadi movement having survived in Pakistan and Afghanistan is now spreading to the Middle East and North and West Africa.

Umricans have their own contracts with pakistan..sooo....
also..
We should pace ourselves in such a way that we dont need the Umrican intervention to take down paki f16s..and we should be able to shooot em down if them pakis try something of pakistaniyat.
We should not be idiots...waiting and thinking..Americans will do their part..thats being idiot from our side.
we should ensure that we can out wit the f-16 . we have done it already with a mig.

NOt sure if the Americans will use support and maintenance contract for f-16s for pakistanis as some kind of arm twisting with India
even if so... we should outgrow that and make ourselves capable with long range solution against paki f-16s..
That will nullify any american high stance on this equation.
When we aren't stopping buying weapons from Russia.. including new platforms, India has no right to expect US to dishonor existing Maintenance contracts...

When your movies start to glorify something the youth fall for it first. The last movie I saw which had Pakistani actors in it, at the end, Indian actor Amarinder Singh Gill says to Pakistani actor, 'Don't worry bro, from Delhi to khyber it will be all Punjab'.

How many F-16 are in fly away condition in Pakistan?
Indian government have started to Buy equipment from US if we don't pressurize them for stopping maintenance of Pakistani transport fleet airforce fleet and American made self propelled guns then we are a idiot.
Americunts won’t Stop Until they make Indians Buy there Shit like the F-16 and F-18. If we truly want a powerful US Made Plane then we Should Buy the F-15. I don’t understand why India isn’t buying the F-15. F-15 is one of the Most Powerful Aircraft to ever Fly. A Well Modernized F-15 can fight on Par with the Russian Su-35 in deal condition. I don’t understand why India isn’t showing any interest in a such wonderful and Powerful Aircraft. The F-15 can Take Down Anything from both the Chinkis and Porkis that they can throw at us. F-15 is way better than Piece of Shit and Money Waster F-35.

We have Su30MKI in the similar category, and it outperforms F 15s as proven by many bilateral exercises, so no point.
India can actually buy F 16 Blk70 if American maal is to be shoved down our throat. It will be a good fighter, with cutting edge avionics, sensors and weapons, while being single engine medium weight fighter cuts the operational cost.

For F-16s porkis would be getting spares from the turds. There is a deep connection between porkistan and turdey for paf. Turds are able to service the F-16 fleet with ease, given that they have invested heavily in assembly, spares and overhaul. For example, PAF F-16s A/B MLU was done by Turkish Aerospace.
Their 1st Maintenance Center carries out some major repair and overhaul including engine overhauls. Besides, Turkey has a large ecosystem of aircraft component suppliers to Airbus, LM, Bombardier etc. Turds should be able to supply chillar operating spares quite easily. But you're right - critical spares like engines and IP protected type spares, the turds won't have access to them if unkil decides to impose CAATSA. There is already something happening along those lines:

With Russian projects in Ladakh and Japanese in North East, India is directly poking the Dragon in the eyes

Your move Xi!

The recent ‘2+2’ Dialogue between India and Japan at New Delhi with the Foreign and Defence Ministers of the two countries has come as a major cause of worry for Beijing. India seems to have made crucial inroads as far as luring Japan into investing in the North-east including the state of Arunachal Pradesh is concerned. This is detrimental to Beijing’s ambitions regarding what it describes as “disputed areas” of India’s North East.

Speaking to reports after the Dialogue, Japan foreign ministry deputy press secretary, Atsushi Kaifu said that Japan priorities connectivity-building projects in all of India including the North-east. He said, “Connectivity inside India, including the northeastern part, is important for us.”

Replying to a question about whether Japan would extend financial aid to India’s Northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, the Japanese official said, “We are carefully studying the status of the region.” Talking about infrastructure projects in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Kaifu said, “Japan and India are very much interested in … connectivity inside of India … but because of the current status in that area, we are continuing to discuss on these issues very carefully, but when it comes to connectivity, the northeastern part of your country is also one of the targets (of development).”

By luring Japan to increase investments in the North-east including Arunachal Pradesh, New Delhi is poking the Dragon’s belligerent claims on the territory. China, which continues to make territorial claims on Arunachal Prasesh as ‘South Tibet’ has been critical of foreign visitors to the Indian state. India’s move is therefore bound to irk Beijing.
India has been able to attract Japanese investments in the North-east Arunachal Pradesh in the past as well. In 2015, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) had agreed to finance infrastructure projects in India’s Northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Northeast India has already become the centre of closer ties between India and Japan.

Tokyo is helping India in several developmental projects across the North-East including a water supply-sewage project in Assam, a Meghalaya road project, forest management programmes in Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim and an irrigation project in Mizoram.

Earlier this year, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) agreed to invest 13,000 crore rupees to support ongoing and new projects, in a further boost to Japanese investments in the region.

India is also looking to further lure Japanese investments in North-east India, and this is why the northeastern city of Guwahati in Assam has been chosen as the venue to host the two-day India-Japan Summit which will be attended by PM Modi and Japan PM Shinzo Abe. In that background, the remarks made by the Japanese Foreign Ministry official become that much more important.

Now, the Japanese Foreign Ministry official’s statement comes as a strong re-iteration of Tokyo’s commitment towards increased investments in the North-east region of India. Moreover, his statement about the importance of connectivity in the region to Japan also shows his country’s commitment towards infrastructure development in the region.

If India is able to lure Japan into stepping up its investments with focus on connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh, then it would come as a huge strategic boost for India. In the 1962 Indo-China war, India suffered greatly due to lack of infrastructure for easy movement of its troops. Successive governments did very little to develop connectivity in the region due to heavy costs involved in such projects. Now, with Japan making considerable investments, India might just be able to develop robust infrastructure for the easy movement for its armed forces.

Just like Arunachal Pradesh, India has also lured Russia to invest in Ladakh, and the Russian investors have also reciprocated by showing interest when it comes to investing in the newly carved out Union Territory. This development is also irksome for Beijing, as any integrational move in Ladakh directly militates against, and threatens China’s illegal occupation of ‘Aksai Chin’.
Such increased investments is the increased influence of the foreign powers in the areas of their projects in the said regions. And both Japan and Russia are close allies of India, therefore the increase in investments is only going to be detrimental for the insecure enemy in the region, viz. China in this case.

The sharp rise in investments, and India’s efforts towards luring Japan to step up investments in Arunachal Pradesh further de-legitimise China’s far-fetched and illegal claims in the region. Beijing has also been wary of Japanese investments in the region. This also explains Beijing’s sharp reaction to the Japanese Foreign Minister, when the latter had described Arunachal Pradesh as “an Indian territory which is disputed by China”. India therefore seems to be successfully moving towards undermining China’s illegitimate territorial claims in the region.

F-15 is a heavy plane. We already have Su-30 for that role. We need more agile, lighter fighters, that's why Tejas and Rafale

Amit Shah directs CRPF to keep combat profile young, shift aged troops to light jobs

The over 3.25-lakh personnel strong CRPF, the country's largest paramilitary force, is working on a proposal mooted by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to keep its combat profile "young and fit" for operations in the anti-Naxal and counter-insurgency domain, officials said on Friday.

As per an order accessed by PTI, the CRPF has constituted a six-member committee of officers to prepare a blueprint if a threshold cut-off age can be fixed after which personnel can be shifted to "relatively static duties" within the organisation or such personnel can be given less-hard duties.

Pakistani Authorities Suffer Apparent Setback In Twitter Wars

For years, Twitter served as a major cyber arena for ideas, influence, and reach in Pakistan, where the main battles were fought between pro-military users and a host of activists, students, politicians, rights campaigners, and journalists.

But the Pakistani authorities are now approaching Twitter to restore what appears to be a large number of suspended accounts after a major newspaper this week reported on how Twitter is being abused in the country.

“Twitter has recently suspended accounts of [a] number of Twitter users from Pakistan without any warning and on unsubstantiated grounds,” the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the main telecommunication regulator in the country, tweeted on December 4. “PTA considers action of Twitter admin against set principles of freedom of speech.”:rofl:

The PTA asked users to report their suspended accounts so that it can raise the issue with Twitter. In the recent past, the PTA has issued takedown requests to numerous websites and social media platforms.

The suspensions apparently peaked after the country’s leading English-language daily, Dawn, reported on the manipulation and abuse of Twitter. In a December 2 expose, it showed that “almost 95% of the trending political campaigns in Pakistan are boosted artificially to mislead the public, giving a false impression that there is genuine grass-roots support or opposition for a particular group or narrative.”

The story showed how “hashtag merchants” or groups of real people with authentic accounts “propose and trend a campaign every day for Twitter users and sub-networks to amplify, rally retweets and celebrate when any of their hashtags makes it to the trending panel.”

:rofl:Major General Asif Ghafoor:basanti:, the military spokesman:pound:, expressed his displeasure over the suspensions on December 3.:rofl:

“Pakistani users are facing problems on Twitter. Mostly on expressions in support of Kashmir. Accounts are being suspended on one pretext or the other,” he tweeted. “Authorities are in contact and issues will be resolved soon. Stay put as responsible users to defeat all those involved in this.”

But there were hints that the recent suspensions were not exclusively linked to Pakistan’s rivalry with neighboring India over the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir. In a December 4 tweet, Ghafoor alluded to the suspensions in December being linked to exiled Pakistani dissidents who frequently criticize Islamabad for censorship and extensive curbs on the media. They also accuse the military of running online troll armies to malign and discredit pro-democracy activists and rights campaigners.

“With less than 1% comparative reach ‘they’ elusively and wishfully claim winning 5GW,” Ghafoor tweeted on December 4 as here referred to “fifth-generation warfare,” a term Pakistani military officers and analysts use to identify security threats Islamabad faces because of cyber and information warfare. “A selfless voluntary passion for Pakistan as yours can never be defeated, let alone by ‘them’. And you know ‘them’,” he added.

As activists celebrated the takedown of what many see as troll accounts, Ghafoor again talked about the issue in an apparent bid to boost the morale of those whose accounts had been affected:rofl:.

“Just don’t bother especially about the few irrelevant ran away ones,” he wrote. “Keep doing your sincere bit for good of Pakistan. Let them expose themselves through their foul expressions and failing attempts.”

It is not clear how many accounts Twitter has suspended, but searches on the platform revealed the numbers could be substantial, with some users complaining that they have suddenly lost thousands of followers.

It was not immediately possible to reach Twitter, but its spokesperson told Dawn that the company does not allow platform manipulation regardless of the political views expressed. “This means that coordinated abuse, hateful conduct, attempts to game trends, and the spread of disinformation at scale are all violations of our policies,” the representative said.

Meanwhile on December 6, some 100 protesters besieged Dawn’s Islamabad bureau for the second time in a week. They chanted slogans against the paper and set copies on fire.

In recent years, international media and rights watchdogs have frequently criticized Pakistan for imposing censorship on the media and launching harsh crackdowns against activists.
