Not the first. It happened before. It will happen again.

Indian troops stage cross-border raid

ISLAMABAD - A Pakistani soldier was martyred and another injured in a gunfight erupting after Indian troops crossed into Pakistani territory and attacked a checkpost in Bagh area of Azad Kashmir on Sunday. But Indian military denied its soldiers had attacked Pakistani position, and instead accused Pakistani troops of violating the Line of Control (LoC), an internationally recognised line separating Indian and Pakistani parts of Kashmir patrolled by troops from both countries. The checkpost skirmish was followed by heavy exchange of fire across the volatile border heightening tensions between the nuclear neighbours after a consider period of calm and rapprochement.A spokesman of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the Indian soldiers violated the LoC early in the day by crossing into the Haji Pir sector, just about 80 kilometres north of capital Islamabad. They “physically raided” Sawan Patra checkpost and critically injured two Pakistani soldiers, one of whom - Naik Muhammad Aslam - succumbed to his wounds later, he added.

My personal favorite is the one where their ministers blamed India for the heat wave that killed thousands last year 700+ Pakistanis last year during ramzan. Eventhough though it was their incompetence & Shitty infrastructure at blame

Cross border raids are not new. Especially across LoC. They have happened many times in the past, mostly to avenge our soldiers ambushed by BAT or occasionally to target specific terror camps. During Kargil, our SFs were tasked with destroying logistics nodes across the LoC and they accomplished those with varying degree of successes.

What makes this action different is the sheer scale of it. Previous operations were localised, low key actions, with very narrow and very specific objectives- take out the guilty BAT teams, for instance. They involved few soldiers and relatively shallow incursion into PoK as in the report above. Targeting an odd TSPA border outpost or two to punish their adventurism.

These actions were widely accepted as necessary to blow off steam and restore morale without the situation getting out of hand.

This time the scale of operations has been unprecedented. As Kunal Biswas's map above shows, it's seems the piglet camps across half the LoC have been simultaneously targeted. Moreover, the ops are hybrid of classical SF and infantry assaults. A hammer and scalpel in one go, if you will.

This is what makes it different.

Some reports suggest causalities are 150 or maybe even 200+, i.e if you take into account Immanuals post. How can PA avenge something like that, other than shooting civilians in cities.. ?

@mayfair
so the level of escalation is what matter!
Not just that. It's also the overall objectives. The present strikes are not a standalone operation. They fit into the overall sequential framework with which the present GoI is going about dealing with Pakistan.

Excuse the cliche, but to my little understanding, this appears to be the classical "Chankian" :biggrin2: Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed.

Saam and Daam- This was India extening our hands for talk, Ganja's invite to swearing in ceremony, SS and JS travelling to Isloo, Modi dropping by Lawhore and Ganja's family residence, trade offers, SAARC satellite, Economic cooperation etc.

Bakis being bakis, took these to be weaknesses.

Now we are in the next phase, to be very simplistic about it

Dand and Bhed- Diplomatic offensive, UNGA hit back, Balochistan reference, Surgical strikes, Chabahar port, SAARC boycott, MFN review, IWT review, suspension of IWT commission, SAARC minus One, Salma dam etc. They all form key cogs in the grandiose action plan.

As Maj. Gaurav Arya put it far more eloquently, Surgical strikes followed diplomatic offensive and they together have put Pak on a sticky wicket. Their army has their chaddis pulled down, Rawheel is looking more of a clown than Saladhin incarnate that fauj and his cronies are projecting him to be. Baloch are on the offensive, so are Afghans and Iranians.

Tallel than ...friends are now where to be seen, in fact are quietly sniggering to themselves.

But underestimate Bkais at our own peril. They are humiliated, cornered, armed and stupid- a deadly combination. We must be on our guard.

Which is why I have been stressing here that the past is past, let's bask in the glory and move on. What comes next is far more important.

They blamed the earthquake and floods on us too. They also blamed Hindu black magic for porki cricket team defeats by India in world cups.
