Anyway, I just want to say We Got Out Of Jail today.

We can't keep playing like this, or else kiss your World Cup chances goodbye.

They need to be put through a rigorous training process for the next few days. Batters and bowlers both, with their fielding. And bowlers with their bowling. Ashis Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth, Munaf Patel and Piyush Chawala/ Harbhajan Singh all of them.

The ball has to be 2.5 m within the stumps, except in exceptional circumstances. And all the commentators agreed, these were exceptional circumstances. <The ball was plummeting right into the stumps>.

The decision was a wrong one. And every commentator, TV expert ('expert') and amateur spectator agreed that it was. In the end, though, you take what you have; say fvck it! and move on.
well in my opinion that was out... but thats what Harsha Bhogle has to say on this

Yesterday's review is a perfect example of why BCCI has been against the umpire review system saying its not 100% fail proof. Though the system is great and should be used, a little bit of common sense should also be used when you have hawk eye showing the ball pitched in line, hit in line and was crashing into the middle of the middle stump. Even if there was 2.5m to go, the replays clearly showed there was no way the ball was going over the stump. A little bit of common sense would have helped. But sense is not all that common. Look at the way tickets have been distributed.

This bowling lineup is useless of all the time. English batsmen were playing them with ample ease. Nothing to blame on Chawla, guy is new & Dhoni shouldn't have made him bowl in such pressure that too in PP. And when Munaf/Zaheer will be able to bowl full pitch???

Zaheer gave out too many runs. Shahzad is the hero. He bowled fairly & oh that last six washed away everything....!

Dhoni must work thoroughly on several fronts. Current bowling formation will drown India in quartersfinals itself.....

Is it very hard for Piyush Chawla to bowl on to the stumps? PC is a professional and so are my expectations. Atleast he could have bowled in the stumps in the 49th over. Bowling, fielding and poor captaincy as the one in this match, will spell doom for us this time. If we do not win the WC this time, we never will.

Both the sixes hit of him were balls that pitched perfectly in line of the stumps. It was a case of desperate hitting which connected that got the runs.

Thats a fact I like dhoni's captaincy but the only negative point i see in him is he plays Chawla in such a big matches. Chawla is a third-class bowler who has given too many runs in past. I remember Younis Khan going after him in the last match we played against India. There are more than a few occasions when I saw the batsmen going after him and hitting long sixes all over the park. India must find better replacement in my opinion... or ask some other bowler to bowl in the final overs. Chawla is simply not the finisher... you need to save Zaheer Khan's over to finish the job

What the.... Both those balls of Piyush Chawla that got hit for sixes were not on the stumps. Mobile pe dekh raha tha match? Only the last ball was on the stumps that got the wicket. Ravindra jadeja would have been a far better choice, plus Jadeja could bat too.

I agree. He must have a strong backing in BCCI to be even considered for team India.

In my humble opinion, India cannot win the World cup with this line up.

They simply don't have bowlers to defend the total... part timers can do their job well but not in every game.

In my opinion India must replace at least one batsmen from their squad and play 1 extra bowler in the forthcoming matches. India's batting is already the best and I am sure they will be able to share the burden of each other and play 50 overs properly. Why you need such a long batting line up in the first place?

Go for specialist Bowler in the forthcoming matches.. or if you don't have one in the World cup squad - make sure you have good specialist bowlers in the final 11 after the world cup. See India has Sehwag, Tendulkar, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Pathan, Kohli... 7 specialists batsmen and on top of that Harbhajan too can bat a little.

They must replace at least one batsmen with the specialist bowler. Rest Yuvraj, Pathan or Kohli in the forcoming matches and you will see a big boost in your bowling department. Otherwise i repeat my words again... India can chase 450 runs but they can't defend 450 in response

/\/\/\ I agree. Virat Kohli is too good a batsmen to rest. Instead of Piyush Chawla, we can play a third seamer, Nehra. 4 regular bowlers can do - Zaheer, Nehra, Harbajan, Sree/Munaf. If there is a slow track and Harbajan gets some spin, Yuvraj & Sehwag will get some spin too. No need to play an extra spinner. Almost every batsmen can bowl spin.

A leg spinner is a match winner no matter what you say. Chawla should play. In a high scoring game, everyone goes for runs. Even Zak went for runs. Leggies do go for runs but they always get wickets. I dont think Indian bowling is as bad as it is made out to be. We didnt reach no 2 spot in ODI rankings just like that. Zak in his first spell was not himself. I am sure as the tournament progresses and people get into a groove, they will do well. The side does not need any tinkering.

If Ian Bell was given out when the review was taken, the story would have been something else. india would have gone on top and put a lot of pressure then. Fielding has to be a little tight.

So relax guys. We need to win against Ireland by a huge margin to maintain a good net run rate as well.

ICC probes Australia-Zimbabwe World Cup match

KARACHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has carried out a scrutiny of the Australia and Zimbabwe World Cup match played in Ahmedabad after Australian openers, Shane Watson and Brad Haddin batted slowly in the first 10 overs.

The two openers scored just 28 in 11 overs and 53 in 15 overs in a match that Australia eventually won comfortably but the slow rate of scoring in the first two overs was scrutinized by the ICC anti-corruption and security unit.

Sources aware of developments said the ICC ACSU had carried out a quiet review of the match after questions were raised over the slow start taken by Watson and Haddin.

With the specter of spot-fixing now looming over international cricket following the bans on three Pakistani players for spot-fixing last year on the England tour, sources said the ICC ASCU was keeping a vigilant eye on all matches in the World Cup and the slow start by the Australian openers caught their attention.

"They are taking no chances at all and all matches are under the scanner for possible indications that any spot-fixing has taken place," one source said.

Australian team coach Tim Nielsen has defended his openers saying they played slowly according to the situation.

"I thought they played well in game one. Everyone had this perception that they went slowly. But if Zimbabwe were going to be competitive against us, they needed to take early wickets with their spinners. We're playing the way we think is the right way to play," said Nielsen after the match.

Pakistan former Test captain, Rashid Latif has already expressed fears that the format of the World Cup has opened a window for bookmakers to try to corrupt players in the tournament since most of the top teams are certain to make the all-important quarterfinals from the group matches stage.

In spot-fixing bookmakers take bets on particular moments and stages of a match for example how many runs would be scored by a team in five overs or after ten overs and so on or in a certain over how many runs will be scored or if it will be a maiden.

Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer were hauled up after being found guilty of deliberately bowling no-balls during the fourth Test against England at Lord's last year.

Plenty of fuss was also raised over the India and England match after former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne correctly tweeted seven hours before the start of the match that it would be a tie.

England skipper Andrew Strauss claimed that Warne had shown he was a cricket genius with his correct prediction but others also observed that it was strange how one could predict a tie so early before a match.

Pakistan's former captain, Moin Khan said the Warne tweet could have been just a hunch but felt it had raised questions by many people.

Pakistan's Test pacer, Sohail Tanvir said on Geo Super that the ICC needed to keep a close eye on all matches of the World Cup as it was a megaevent and a big attraction for bookmakers in the sub-continent.

Pakistan's former captain, Aamir Sohail rued that if any Pakistani or Indian player had made the same tweet about having a tied match lot of hue and cry would have been raised in the western media by now.

"But since this prediction comes from an Australian player it is declared a stroke of genius," he added.

The last match between India vs England was a nail biter as the fortunes of victory was swinging from one team to the other and it felt at some point of time that India had no chance while yet another time it felt England had no choice but in the end may the 'tie' was the perfect result perhaps. But as an Indian fan I'm deeply disappointed with our bowling, fielding and captaining.

Bowling: Zak has lost his rythm in the last two matches and is not able get the early wickets as he used to get, may be its just a bad phase and he will be back like he did in the last overs of Ind-Eng match. But I'm really worried about our overall bowling unit, no one has the wherewithal to stop the batsman from scoring and Praveen kumar is definitely missed in this department. The bowlers were bowling so easily that the England batsmen were scoring free singles and almost one boundary every over of the match. Harbhajan is not his usual aggressive self that he used to be. Munaf Patel was wayward in his bowling at times though he tried to stem the runs in the beginning of the Eng batting. Piyush chawla was getting some spin and was troubling the batsmen with his googlies but he spoiled his efforts by giving two sixes in his last over by bowling in the scoring area and from around the wicket. Its time to get our bowling unit on its toes. We need to have five bowlers in the team if we need to win crucial matches. Bring in Sreesanth as an early wicket taker and Ashwin Kumar to stem the run flow and rest Piyush Chawla.

Fielding and Captaining: I'm very disappointed with our fielding and the fielding tactics employed by Dhoni. There was no attacking field to force the batsmen into making mistakes by stopping the singles. But Dhoni went for a very defensive field and gave free singles and didn't put any pressure on the batsmen. If it is not for the 3rd powerplay we would have been on the losing side. The comment by Dhoni that Indian Team fielding has some slow movers and therefore it cannot be improved, to say the least, is the most disappointing comment to hear form the Indian captain. Increase the fitness levels and the hunger to win and the fielding will improve itself but it seems everyone is taking it easy because of huge targets given to the opposition and waiting for wickets to tumble by themselves. This is totally a lackadaisical approach and doesn't bode well for India if it has to win the world cup.

My final comment is improve fielding, include an extra full-time bowler, change the fielding tactics and show more intensity on the field.

PS: The lack of basics in taking runs shown by munna can be said to be the match loser as we lost one extra run which would have, in the hindsight, got a victory to us. That's why they say - "Every single F%^king run counts".

GREAT batting by the IRELAND players. The MAN-OF-THE-MATCH is Kevin O'Brien. The century is the fastest century in ICC WORLD CUP EDITIONS so far. He made century in 50 balls.
