The Chinese use these tactics quite often and well to the effect since 1962. They are very well aware of the fault lines between the Indian bureaucrats and Army Generals. The first thing they would resort to is to complain against the Indian Army with MEA, They just go and start crying in MEA,

Knowing fully well that all foreign policy decisions on Chinese relations with India are taken by PLA, our MEA is quite sympathetic to and all ears to Chinese complaints. They take Chinese complaint as a good excuse to mount on a general.

A middle-level General will be called in MEA, someone higher then will attempt a dressing down on him, he will come back and tell his higher-ups, then Foreign Secretary will rush up to the cabinet Secretary and PMO and finally, there will be a conference and then they will create a scene in that conference. The bureaucrats of MEA will demand a court Marshall and the General will show him his middle finger...

Then some good-natured minister like late Shri Jagjivan Ram will intervene and say " Shyam man Jao Na "...

This is what happens most of the time. What should have happened that our Babu in the Foreign Office should have told the Chinese to quietly have his tea and just Fuck-off.

In the case of Chinese, the equations are the other way round. If a PLA colonel says anything that is final. No one in their foreign service or no diplomat dare say anything,,,

Safe and sound.

The Chinese are trying to scale heights and dislodge troops from there.

They are trying to create a galwan type clash engage us in hand ro hand combat.

Even though they possibly cant hope to defeat us in hand to hand it's still better than getting shot from hill tops without any cover.

This is something even I was wondering about unless the army is holding some big secret only to be revealed at today's meet.

Chinese countermeasures seem to be like lays packets.

All air and no substance.

I will ignore the meetings part, as that's drama which may lead to meaningful result or not. Just par for the course.
It all depends on having the ground level facts to answer your questions.....withdrawing from heights means in future they may have upper hand as our plans and strategy are kinda exposed along with their chinks but if we keep them then are they sustainable in winter? I think best result is to outfox them by all means without getting into full war....meaning take some more areas around those heights so we have more control over the area and in a position to vacate heights in winter but get to keep them. Then go in front of the world for peace....as for going for full Aksai, we should postpone that into future and focus on Tibet uprising....larger gains by military is not a good strategy.
Your reply is also not very specific. What about the original problem. The Chinese occupation of new areas in Pangong Tso, Depsang etc. We need not recover it and should be happy with the additional land we have occupied elsewhere in Tibet.
We are all discussing about the India - China face-off and making points and offering suggestions. There is no absolute right and wrong. You need not be right and others wrong. Similarly you need not be wrong and others right. It is basically an exchange of ideas.
There is no need to get personal and lower the standard of the discussion. By making personal attacks on you I don't become superior. Let's agree to maintain the decorum of the forum.
