Counter measures? Does it mean the PLA also fired in retaliation?
A step further up in the escalation ladder.
Countermeasures meant they abandoned their squatting plans and went back wherever they came from.
For Now.
Like the Bajistanis, they too operate on a meme premise that Indian armed forces are cowardly and will not react to their stunts.
So the little Chinese encroachment squad might not have known how to react to warning shots being fired towards them, so probably high tailed it to their encampment to relay this development to their superiors.

anyway this is my theory, based on GobarTimes "reporting"

Looks like our guys forced Gol-Gappas into pretty Han mouths again. How affectionate.
GT claims things escalated during negotiations. Bet blows were exchanged.
No wonder the outrage by GT.

There are 3 possibilities of what happened.
  • Indian patrol caught chinese squatters, fired warning shots at them, and the squatters high tailed.
  • Actual kinetic action happened, with our guys trying to grab more hilltops or something(unlikely i think)
  • Fully fabricated bullshit by GB, CGTN etc, intending to prepare the domestic Chinese audience for a war/skirmish against India

Anyway our govt will not say anything officially about this :( , it is applying the "we are willing to talk, but grab land while talks go on" philosophy of the Cheenis on them it looks like

He is right, India might have crossed the line of no return but US & EU haven’t crossed the line yet. there is a still a possibility that they renegotiate with CCP and go back to pretending as if nothing has happened.
Not when you factor in Covid and couple that with the US finally awakening to Chinese high tech stealing. India has crossed the line as regards open military hostilities, the US has crossed the line as regards business hostilities. Business hostilities coupled with SCS disputes have the potential to result in military hostilities though clearly India is front and center at the moment.

This is an odd time to release a press statement, it's 3 am Beijing.
My best guess is that this is for upcoming meeting with EAM, they want to use this as a leverage.
Hopefully EAM simply disregards this tactic and get on with what ever he originally planned to communicate.
This can be discussed at local commander level at the border.
