Sure, but we need to encourage viable alternatives and spread the word more like we are already dng. Good budget smartphones from Samsung, Nokia would fill the shoes of Mi, Vivo slowly untill their share is captured. We have the second largest handset manufacturing plant of Samsung in NCR and a couple like them from Asus,Nokia etc can breach the segment if govt attracts them with tax relaxations, incentives etc.
Most share of chinki phones come at budget segment - 8k to 15k.

Cheeni phones offer better chipsets at same pricepoint compared to Samsung. If they can address that, then we're gucci

That will cause issues with WTO

China will have no hope in hell with WTO. There is a pretty strong security and national public order exception in the WTO agreements.

If China is stupid enough to go to the WTO, it will be likely under GATS article which covers services. Here there is a similar exception.

India‘s defence will be necessity due to security interest etc.

India can also rely on 2004 “US-Gamling” decision of WTO - essentially US banned online gambling from Antiga who challenged it in the WTO. US won because it was justified on necessary public order ground.

Plus it will take years for any decision.

Long and short of it is China will not bother with WTO.
