India is getting pushed around in this border dispute. First there were Chinese encampments and patrols in Indian territory for months without any rebuke until the Galvan valley clash in which the PLA killed 20 Indian soldiers. That got India's attention. But what did India do besides go on an arms-buying spree and send more troops to the border? Not much apparently. India hasn't punched back, hasn't forced the PLA to retreat, and hasn't grabbed anything to use as leverage. Now we can see that for all their talk about negotiations they are still intent on nibbling away at Indian land. China continually pokes and prods along the LAC, looking for weak spots and building up its infrastructure where ever it can.

India's leaders are getting badly out-maneuvered. They're always in reaction mode, always waiting for the PLA to make the first move.

China's CCP leaders are playing a long con game with India. Their leaders and diplomats smile, talk about peaceful development and historical civilizations while the PLA is robbing India blind. The CCP is like the smooth-talking thief who distracts the cashier while their partner-in-crime robs the store. India needs to recognize the CCP's con-game and push back hard. The longer they delay, the harder it will be to undo China's gains.
Are you daft what about the recent reports?

It's the fault of any foreign journalist that still continues to work in that well established rogue state. Why would you not know that your life and well being is at risk.

This seems to be the problem. They will talk about calming things down and look for another flashpoint in a month or two.
Depends what India's plan is, if our idea is to keep engaging in empty talks/have Jaishankar mouth typical platitudes while carrying out more ops like the last couple days - it could be a perfect strategy.

There's no way China can shed the tag of aggressor in this overall situation at this point.

I don't understand what problem we have with talks or what niceties Jaishankar mouths. Each person/position has a role to play. A Foreign Minister has to be diplomatic, appear to be always suing for peace. A defense minister will take jingoistic stands. Those who are supposed to be having "talks" will talk , those who are supposed to be beating the shit out of conscripts will do that.
PM will play the "adult" above all this. All these things will be done simultaneously. There is no either/or here.

This stupid "Oh Jaishankar is still talking of bonhomie" rant just makes us look naive. This is not saas bahu saaga where the moment a flash point occurs entire family will stop talking to other family
