I am no military expert either BUT in football, we attack where / when it's NOT anticipated as well.
AND NOTHING is "settled" ever!!!
This is the beginning of unsettlement of those previously "settled" things.
This is ain't football also this isn't game. It's matter of soldiers life and death also strategic piece of land. Sikkim is settled. China India sorted Sikkim border by China recognising Sikkim part of India and we did it for Tibet being part of chin. At this vulnerable moment IA will never touch IB in Sikkim.

I was not talking of "at this moment".
Once again there is NOTHING called "settled". YOU will NOT get that. It's OK.

Agrement's is something that the both parties honour. If one party unhonour it then the agrement is void. Goodwill of the party also plays an important role in honoring a agrement. You can dishonour it if you feel the other party lacks the will to honour the agrement.

May I interject?

By saying settled, it means that we shall not change status quo in Sikkim by crossing the boundaries as agreed upon in 2003, unilaterally. There is no use opening a front where we have a settled international border.

All matters of Sikkim which are in focus are either PLA moves into our side of border or over Dokalam, which is a Bhutanese territory.

What happens (hypothetically over a year) if it becomes a full scale war AND IA estimates that China is NOT in a position to fight India around Sikkim (for whatever reason)? Even then IA / India will not consider crossing the IB there (assuming China does NOT cross IB there)?

[I understand what "settled" means as per treaty etc]

Worst case scenario there are hell lot of locations on LAC other than disturbing strategically vulnerable settled Sikkim border.
Strategically vulnerable to them, not us. They are surrounded by 3-sides. Sikkim-Tawang sector is one of the few places where we enjoy either par or superiority vis-a-vis Chinese infra.

Are any military expert present here? and who have similar thought here? I cant continue this conversation due to my lack of knowledge take over from here.
Cannot call myself a military expert, but will take the bait.

Sikkim border is settled btw...
Settled till the Chinese decide to violate it. In a war with China, they won't play fair, and neither should we. Dokala-Yadong region is one of the few regions we can capture from Chinese without significant setback. They realize this and are frantically scrambling to put on ADs and EW Radars.
