Apparently,This is what they did in response to Amreeki U2 Space violation
Is U2 still flying?

From wikipedia - "Lockheed Corporation originally proposed it in 1953, it was approved in 1954, and its first test flight was in 1955. It was flown during the Cold War over the Soviet Union, China, Vietnam, and Cuba. In 1960, Gary Powers was shot down in a CIA U-2A over the Soviet Union by a surface-to-air missile (SAM). Major Rudolf Anderson Jr. was shot down in a U-2 during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962."

If U2 could be shot down in 1960, no reason why it cannot be shot down in 2020.

U2s are good at High-altitude reconnaissance and one more reason might be that USA doesn't want Cheenes to assess or get the data of their other platforms while performing Missions.
Just my two cents..

What kind of SAMs can reach 22km in altitude?
Medium to long-range SAMs, including older Soviet S-75, to modern S-300s, or Chinese HQ-9/16.
Even without SAMs, U-2 is quite slow and can be easily chased by interceptors, and shot-down by AAMs.

But if USA is challenging them, then it means USA has done some background research about China's capabilities to engage U-2 and found them to be either weak or nonexistent.

USSR shot it down with SAM .. interceptor . .. not many can operate at 75k feet.. MIG25 was one but it's gone long.. Not sure of MIG 31's.. there is a reason why SR 71 used to operate over whole world with impunity

The Pakistani writers are crazy. It think it is the result of eating too much goat brain curry.

India naturally would maintain relations with Russia as it is a major Asian power. The military aspects of the relationship are in decline as America rises on India's horizon. India will determine its destiny largely on its own strength. Some help from outsiders will be there though.
Writer is Indian but he raises some solid points as well. Russia has opposed quad so bringing them into the fold is far fetched. I think Jaishankar is behind this. He is strong believer of India's strategic autonomy.
