I think we are moving towards war. Decoupling economy is a pre-requisite to war. As domestic capacity needs increase to support wartime needs. This war will not be a short war. Once started, war may last around one year minimum.

The Indian Army is in buying spree... it is trying to buy all sorts of arms and equipment that were considered nonessential till yesterdays like Light Tanks and Whaps. It is not that both these items were not in the sight but there were very good reasons for not according priorities to those.

Nothing much has been hard from the artillery front. The troublemaker Pinaka is not much is news, and there is no news on MGS front either from OFB or Kalyani. Had there been anything more there I am sure OFB or Kalyani must have shouted from rooftops by now but both are so quite. Except for Sig Saur Rifles there is no news on small arms and ammunition.

Whatever the Indian Army is planning to equip itself with must be aimed not only for the Chinese front but for operations into the Western side of the border - Skardu. Gigit and Baltistan. Whether it be light Tanks or Whap. its utility should exist for taking back GB... Tomorrow the Indian Army should not fall back and say they want GB specific equipment. I think MGS must be accorded priority as road construction along LAC picks up steam.

On armor front the area of emphasis must be upgrading BMP and tanks in Engine power and AFVs and Wahaps with Berezhoek turrets along with associated weapons systems.

DRDO has been a big let down in the only field they claim of having done something - the missiles. LCH and Rudra are in doldrums because of missiles which have gone DODO exposing their tall claims being made over years and putting all blame on users, MPATGM is still hibernating... Army must work on alternatives on both important issues as those can not be made hostage to DRDO delay tactics even in the face of the enemy.

Survivability and upkeep of men and equipment is the key of high altitude warfare and let there not be any loss of life in a deployment like OP Parakram.. Indian Army can avoid that cost.
