Because there side is based on a plateau while we have steep mountain ridges and passes some of which are closed during winter.

Also they have established infrastructure while our infrastructure is slowly but steadily matching them we still have some way to go.

The focus here is not on mountain warfare the focus is on logistics not battle just keeping troops there.

In that regard they have the advantage mainly due to their terrain.

In warfare we outclass them by a huge margin but keeping troops there for a prolonged period will be most costly for us.

What is stopping us to rake up Tibbet now when Chinese are holding discussion on J&K in UN and sorry Dalai Lama is not our national Son-in-Law if you don't have clue of how to use him against china. Better hand him over to China.
This is most absurd argument that we will have to follow what US & EU does when it comes dealing with China & at the same time our aspirations are skyrocketing with time to become global player, how we will become one by keeping mum on everything that hurts China. I have figured it out.. The video where IA/ITBP jawans are standing over a captured PLA soldier , and chinese soldiers are throwing stones from afar.. In this video you can also see that there are 2 abandoned Humvees.. and Indian jawans can be seen thrashing it.. Looks like, when the PLA convoy was ambushed by Indian soldiers near pangong lake, the reverse gear in the humvees stopped working when they tried to escape..
