I think our objective is stop china expansion policy and only possible thru reverse slicing. Give china taste of his own medicine. I m not defence guru but a straight thought.

Our objective was long completed, it was completed the day we called their bluff and stood ground. China wouldnt bother if a few of their men die an unofficial death but would not by any chance would like to get bullied the way they do.

No country, not even the US has gotten this close to fighting China like how recently India has got. Which is a big surprise for them and they are still running around for answers. There is nothing they can do, they are now trapped in their egos staring at an entire mountain brigade of the Indian Army waiting to prey on them.

You are correct they are trapped because of their ego.

The thing is PLA doesn't have the guts to fight when they even have a slightest chance of defeat or in this case a clear victory.

Pla forces used rocket artillery and india replied with gun system. We also had height advantage.

For me long term objective would be
1. Solidifying infra at border throughout the LAC and making permanent infra ,treating whatever we have in control at the moment as the fixed boundary (infra wise). Specially in AP
2. All this while keeping claim on aksai C while doing no talks of AP region and giving once in a while statement like they claim ours AP.
3. Salami slicing strategically and constant intrusions like they do to us.
In all i think that what is govt or army is doing right now but iam 100% sure this will once again vanish if chinks start to comply. So last point comes.
4. Forming a forward policy or a seperate division that deals it like a 5 year plan ( military wise) to at least have some goals in future regarding china now that we know their intension is not friendly. And even if chinaman temporarily obliges keeping that offensive goal alive in background to secretly eliminate the differences in military development etc while keeping a welcoming face for Chinese
