BRICS block will become weak if failed states like Greece and Pakistan are inducted as members. As for BRICS meeting, Nawa Shari is simply exploring the possibility of "Loan Milega Kya?" Though BRICS is also not in a strong position, Let's see if the BRICS bank(if become operational) is going to invest money in a country which is surviving on Loans
pakis may get membership of sco but not in brics,

no one even thought about pakis as members of brics,

India and Pakistan in the SCO is much cooler than Greece and Turkey in NATO.
SCO isn't going to be like NATO as some anticipate. China for one is not interested in such a quixotic rivalry with the West. Unlike other members Chinese interest is very integrated with the West and non-confrontational. Chinese and Kazakh attitude to the Ukraine crisis is very subtle for example (not comfortable with the overdone Novorossiya whoopla frankly as time goes by).

There're frictions from time to time but they're manageable thanks to Yin Yang wisdom.

Indeed having both India and Pakistan aboard is self defeating for the group's primary missions. They're likely to bring heir old grudges into the organization and get it off track. Pakistan plus Iran r the appropriate add-on for post-NATO Afghanistan.

Worse than the Turkey and Greece duo.

China should oppose Indian admission.

And Russia was asked about it? See, for Russia, the creation of the SCO, as a moral rehabilitation for the Warsaw bloc.

there may be trade-offs with Russia but who knows. as a result both will be admitted for SURE.

India and Pakistan would rather fight inside than allow the other to get on board ALONE.

What kind of fights do you imagine there would be.

do u foresee India's interest in Afg. converge with Pakistan's or China's?

Indian interests in Afghanistan are same as that of Afghanistan's - economic growth and suppression/destruction of Taliban and other allied groups. What are China's?
How would this disrupt the proceedings of SCO?

India's pious platitude aside -

On 7 July Taliban and Kabul held OFFICIAL talks near Islamabad, in presence of American and Chinese mediators.

Very well matched with Indian actions.

Good for you. How does mediating on behalf of an Islamic terrorist insurgents feel like?
Still fail to see how any of this is related to Ind-Pak disagreement in SCO.

fyodor, you can live in your wishful thinking if thats what you choose. The reality is that world is changing rapidly and the hegemony of old boys, racist club (a.ka. G-7) has started to end. Its soon going to be a multi-polar world free from the shackles of narrow, greedy and selfish interests of old, imperialist powers. Nothing can change this trend. Internet connectivity and people to people contact will only accelerate the decline of current ,hegemonistic order as more and more people will see thru the dirty game of destabilizing, controlling and intimidating developing nations. The days of using smaller nations and pit them against big nations, promoting proxy wars and terrorism thru funding Islamic schools(Madrasas) and providing money and free weapons to poodle nations like Pakistan, to create chaos in their neighborhood, are going to end.
The current powers drunk with pathological greed and sick narcissistic tendencies have to learn mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. BRICS and SCO are entities which will teach west mutual respect and deflates some of their vastly inflated egos. People can live and love even if they are culturally diverse....I see it everyday where I live. If their is harmony and good intentions, diversity can become an asset.
So, Pakistan was created due to some foreign play with no role of Ummah mentality among the peace loving desert religion followers?

It is good for India that Pakistan grows out of its Two-Nation theory shell which is ridiculous and also preposterous. If they do not want to we will have to do it internally and also externally for them on our own (debunk two-nation theory forever).
Pakistan was never two nation theory shell. It was just a lollipop for gawar population, so military can justify their nation looting process..
Remember how Guardian of Islam Zia ul haq massacred thousand of palestinians as he got supari from king of jordan..
This changes nothing, army will be looting as always and their janta will be fooled as always..

Membership in the group potentially offers India greater access to the energy resources of Central Asia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said India and Pakistan will join the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, a group dominated by Russia and China and also including former Soviet republics in Central Asia.

Russia sees the organisation as a counterweight to Western alliances.

Membership in the group potentially offers India greater access to the energy resources of Central Asia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had combined his attendance at the summit in Russia with visits to SCO members Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Mr. Putin opened the annual summit on Friday by announcing the acceptance of India and Pakistan as members. He said Belarus would obtain observer status, joining Afghanistan, Iran and Mongolia.

The Russian President called for greater cooperation in fighting drug trafficking from Afghanistan and the financing of terrorism.

Keywords: Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, SCO membership, India's SCO membership, Modi's UFA visit

In and out of any forum....India is too big to be ignored for any forum....Its the huge elephant in the room....you may not like it but IT IS and it will remain. Can any forum succeed without including 1/5th of the human race?
Besides, India is on the move upwardly with great economic upsurge...western and non western powers are all going to court India...in fact..they have already started courting it. See the foreign dignitary visits...non stop..in last 12 month.

Did you notice the dozens of MOUs signed this week between India and Uzbeckistan and Kazakistan?
Islam Karimov and Nursultan Azarbayev are old friends of Vladimir Putin who is the facilitator of this India-central asia trade .

crystal clear ~ NO resemblance to the Warsaw pact at all, no ideological binding, no single big brother……and so on.
