All the developed country are almost stagnant only countries that has really good potential to grow are India, China, Russia & Brazil and Brazil is really important market for Indian companies.

Acronym may do well but I don't think India's association with the rest of the brics will be a positive. The brics have no collective political or economic views. All the brics are dependant on trade none of them have a strong sustainable domestic consumer economy (except india)

This currency fund is a good start. It is China's hedge if yuan does not become the premier currency that they dreamed about.

I think Pakistan can function as a normal, civilized nation IF it sheds its delusion and understand that by being a big powers poodle and using terrorism as "strategic assets" is an outdated and failed policy.
"Poodle foreign policy" has got Pakistan in a hot mess where it stands now..naked and exposed in front of the whole world. Even the poodle masters are not showing their relationship and trying to hide the rope.
Its time for Pakistan to look after the interests of its suffering masses and drop the slavery of masters sitting thousands of miles away. Yes, Pakistan can coexist with its neighbors if it drops old, failed mindset.
Why India should not work with China and Pakistan? If there is positive outlook and good intentions on all three sides...its absolutely possible.

There is no chance of SCO becoming NATO like organization. NATO members are homogenous in the sense that they came from the same historical and cultural source(europe and christianity) with the exception of turkey and they share common interests. SCO countries have no common interest other then short term economic ones. With the addition of Pakistan to it, you can be sure that it's a joke.

Moscow, Russia: The Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif will attend meetings of 7th summit of BRICS and SCO summit in Ufa Russia, reports Dispatch News Desk news agency.
The BRICS and SCO summits will take place on July 8-10 in Ufa. Russia expects the BRICS summit to trigger off the $100 billion BRICS New Development Bank and a currency reserve pool worth another $100 billion.

The meeting of Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif is expected with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India has a tense relations with Pakistan again over counter-terrorism issues but both leaders have cordial personal relations.

According to Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) head office, Pakistani Foreign Office has confirmed participation of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif along with a foreign office delegation.
The SCO Summit in Ufa (Republic of Bashkortostan) is very important event this year because this summit will accept or reject applications waiting for decision for full membership.
“We will consider applications submitted by a number of states, including India and Pakistan. Iran has also filed an application, and I hope that the progress on the Iranian nuclear programme will help us to consider it,” said According to Mr. Lavrov, the relevant criteria for aspiring members were approved at the 2014 SCO Summit in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). he said.
The 7th BRICS summit will discuss economic cooperation among members while the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit will discuss important regional issues particularly of security, politics, the economy and the humanitarian sphere. Pakistan is seeking full membership of SCO and its inclusion in BRICS also.
The SCO will be represented both by heads of member states and heads of observer states. The topic of the meeting, which will take the form of an open-ended discussion, is cooperation for prosperity and development.
Russia is hosting both events in a big way and the Central Bank of Russia issued 3-rouble commemorative silver coins for the July SCO and BRICS summits in Ufa on June 22, 2015.
The coin entitled “A Meeting of the SCO Heads of States Council in Ufa” will be 39 mm in diameter. The front will show the coin’s nominal value, the date of issuance and the embossed national emblem of the Russian Federation. The reverse side will have an embossed official emblem of the SCO above, colour images of the member states’ flags in the middle, and below, a stylised seven-petal Kurai flower, which is part of Bashkortostan’s national emblem and flag.
First and foremost the Ufa summit is an opportunity for Russia, which in 2014-2015 holds the rotating presidency of both the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS, to showcase its resilience.


PS: Is Pakistan willing to join BRICS? They cannot go well in SAARC, forget G20 and have dreams of joining BRICS.

i feel the brics issue is like the palestiian question (in a way ) where it is a paraiah but we cant quite act towards them that way
india has to play a balancing act between brics and the west

similaraly for SCO - gonna be another paraiah in the long run

Yes, like any party, other than the main 5. The combined share of the main 5 will always be at least 55%, and the remaining 45% will be open to other countries, and I believe, each country will have a cap, but I don't remember how much it is. Perhaps someone can inform.

Pakistan always wants to be associated with bigger powers and these days Pakis are desperate to ensure their attendance in big meetings across the world. Pakistan needs an image booster hence their Military and Civil Leadership(Guided by Military) making frequent phorein visits to convince the world that they are not a Failed Terrorist State and the funny part is other than China, no one is buying their claim. Every big power sees Pakistan as an opportunity to use her for their strategic goals.

SCO is the last resort for Pakistan but to her bad luck, SCO is also open for India (Thanks to China slowdown and Sanction ridden Russia). Central Asian countries in SCO are more or less irrelevant because of their small economy. Pakistan is not going to have any major gain with SCO

BRICS block will become weak if failed states like Greece and Pakistan are inducted as members. As for BRICS meeting, Nawa Shari is simply exploring the possibility of "Loan Milega Kya?" Though BRICS is also not in a strong position, Let's see if the BRICS bank(if become operational) is going to invest money in a country which is surviving on Loans and Foreign Aids.

fyodor, you can live in your wishful thinking if thats what you choose. The reality is that world is changing rapidly and the hegemony of old boys, racist club (a.ka. G-7) has started to end. Its soon going to be a multi-polar world free from the shackles of narrow, greedy and selfish interests of old, imperialist powers. Nothing can change this trend. Internet connectivity and people to people contact will only accelerate the decline of current ,hegemonistic order as more and more people will see thru the dirty game of destabilizing, controlling and intimidating developing nations. The days of using smaller nations and pit them against big nations, promoting proxy wars and terrorism thru funding Islamic schools(Madrasas) and providing money and free weapons to poodle nations like Pakistan, to create chaos in their neighborhood, are going to end.
The current powers drunk with pathological greed and sick narcissistic tendencies have to learn mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. BRICS and SCO are entities which will teach west mutual respect and deflates some of their vastly inflated egos. People can live and love even if they are culturally diverse....I see it everyday where I live. If their is harmony and good intentions, diversity can become an asset.
