Buddy, I think that you have never been to Nepal outside of the "usual" tourist circuit.

As far as the reviews are concerned, most of these European tourists enter India with a savior complex, and they are surprised by how ordinarily they get treated here compared to say, Nepal or Pakistan. This adds on to their frustration.

If they want to find poverty or slum, they don't need to come all the way to India, however they do because it sells. Many of them are the backpackers who cannot afford to stay at the good places and hence choose to stay in the shady areas.

However there seems to be a trend to counter such rants. Most of the Indians on the SM have adopted a take it or leave it kind of attitude.

India may not be perfect, there are open drains and garbage on the streets. But, there is a continuous improvement as well.

They don't have gutka spitters like us. Every corner of a alleyway, poles, footpath, is smeared with red paint.
You absolutely cannot defend this.
They don't just spit but discard gutka packets on the road and greenery besides roads. Do you ever notice bazillion of gutka packets on evey inch of public space?
I can't go a meter without seeing a Gutak packets or any plastic packet but mostly its the gutka packets.

Than there is the inefficient nagar Nigam wala.
Maybe it does not happen in you city but peope throw there garbage in a designated space.

Than theirs the Chai wala who's customer thow Chai handi on the road despite having a dustbin.

Than you have the poster epidemic, evey pole every public place is littered with Posters stating "spa ka massage", "Gupt rog ka illaj", "Jotish ka Kamal".

Kitna defend karoge be. Kabhi self reflection to Ka lo.

Banning gutka industry will be a net positive on the world.

Every Indian city has got good and bad parts. The part of the city I live in is clean and green, however I need to pay a premium to be a resident.

I also have to miss out on lot many things that the chaos and the dirt offers. For example the affordable, tasty and authentic street food.

These goras stay in say, Paharganj either because they cannot afford anything better, or they came to India to experience the "poverty porn".

I have lived in the west for 25+ years and i have never seen a western city with less gum splattered on the walls and sidewalks than Indian cities with gutka stains. Gum droppings are far more common place than gutka.
