It has 2 hard points on 2 pylons .

so its a Either 8 HELINA ATM

Or four Unguided mis missile sle pods
I expect the LCH to have quad launchers for helina that would make it 16 missiles instead of 8 , if thats not so then ==srew== DRDO

Its a weight issue.

I reckon it depends more on the HELINA weight , then the LCH it self

What weight issue , each quadlauncher would have an approx max weight of around 200 kg , 800 kg of payload isn't too much to ask for.

What weapons would you be able to fit on the LCH?
Forges de zeebrugge rocket pods for 68 or 70 mm rockets , a giat chin mounted 20 mm cannon , mistral aam , the ATGM is supposed to be Helina which is still under development , if it is not developed by the time the LCH comes out then either Lahat or spike is my guess

at low to medium altitudes that weight will not be an issue. however LCH is designed for high altitude operations which means the altitude will dictate the payload carrying capacity.

Prasun, Seshadri’s statement is quite clear. He indicates that the total payload at 20,000 feet will be some 350-500 kg. The cannon and its turret are not payload. They are a part of the helicopter fitment. Their ammunition, however, is payload. As are the missiles, rockets (the pods are not payload, they are fitment), etc.

i guess, the man Seshadri quoted by ajai here must be some AF man.

I was talking about deserts and plains ,why would we need ATGM's at that altitude :p , at 20000 feet only flying with the main gun is acceptable and respectable :)

At 20000 ft cannon and unguided rockets should be good enough.

what about tibetan plains and the north eastern borders?? won't we face up to the chinese tanks??

in fact we maintain T-72 units in the sikkim sector IIRC. army was looking for light tanks too for the chinese bordered sectors!!

also can't the ATGM be used against ICV's or APC's??

ATGM can also be used against bunkers. This would be really helpful in many high altitude operations that LCH is supposed to carry out.

LCH completes 6 flights; makes a fly-past over HAL airport for first time.

Some more photos of LCH (pic 1 & 2) and the proud team that's dating the machine (pic 3). The LCH made its 6th flight in Bangalore on April 20, 2010

Anxious onlookers in and around Bangalore airport were treated to a marvelous solo fly-past by HAL's latest baby in town -- the Light Combat Aircraft (LCH) -- on Tuesday evening. On the controls, according to sources, was CTP Wg Cdr Unni Pillai. A leading aviation photographer, who spotted the aircraft from his office terrace, told tarmak007 that the from beneath the chopper looked like a crocodile. Stay tuned for an update on what has been achieved from these six flights.

BANGALORE, India

India's new Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), which had its first unofficial flight on March 29, has made five more test flights ahead of its first official outing in May.

Its makers at the Bangalore-based Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) are currently putting the helicopter through initial flying lessons. Insiders confirmed to Aviation Week that so far six flights have been made, including an aborted one owing to bad weather.

Based on the proven Dhruv platform, the slim and sleek aircraft has a tandem configuration, embedded with stealth features and glass cockpit. "The performance has been excellent so far and the entire team is pleased. It's a very steady platform," HAL chairman Ashok Nayak told Aviation Week.

Aviation Week has learned that the pilots, for the first time, flew over nearby areas of HAL airport, including a fly-past over the airfield runway. Reporting flight details for the first time, program sources said that they shifted the LCH flights from the Alpha helipad (inside HAL's fortified helicopter complex) to the nearby airport, after gaining confidence in the aircraft's systems and performance.

The pilots accelerated close to 150 kph from one end of the runway to other and checked the performance of the aircraft. In later flights, they flew over the airfield and within a flight-test sector, did turns and came close to maximum speed, sources said.

The pilots also flew without the armament wing to test the performance in forward flight, briefing designers about the results. The designers were delighted on hearing that LCH had very little vibration and gave excellent aiming options.

The pilots opened up the envelope hoping to perform minimum maneuvers during the much-awaited inaugural flight. HAL is tight-lipped over the exact date of the official flight, but it is expected in May.

they were not mentioned till, may be or may not be,
but the only Attack Helli with ejection seat is Ka-52,
even the US helli's dont have them, Instead they use Capsule body which can survive the pilot in crash landing's........
our Mi-35 also have a strong Capsule which can protect pilots in crash landing.
