I would prefer some nomenclature along with a name. What can be official name of LCH?
Heavy attack helicopters could be called Makars. So i think Gharial (alligator) would be apt name for Light combat helicopter. What can be official name of LCH?
That could be me. or did u hear it in media elsewhere?I think someone suggested "Gharial" once. Not sure if it was an official or someone on the forum.
The Mil-24/35 is called the Krokodil or Crocodile. Calling the LCH Gharial or Alligator would be quite unoriginal.Heavy attack helicopters could be called Makars. So i think Gharial (alligator) would be apt name for Light combat helicopter.
It would be logical. It's amazing. The Mil-24/35 is called the Krokodil or Crocodile. Calling the LCH Gharial or Alligator would be quite unoriginal.
How about Prachika which means Dragonfly in Sanskrit?₩Why should we name a combat helicopter after amphibious animals like crocodile or alligator? Rather it should be given an official name after a flying predator bird like sanskrit name for hawk, kite, Eagle etc etc or a mythological bird.
Because Helicopters are slow moving like Alligators and crocodiles. Bird names are usually given to supersonic planes. Why should we name a combat helicopter after amphibious animals like crocodile or alligator? Rather it should be given an official name after a flying predator bird like sanskrit name for hawk, kite, Eagle etc etc or a mythological bird.
Once Kaveri is ready, it will be handed over to HAL. HAL is a production unit, not a research unit. Why dont we handover kaveri to hal? it will be really great! hal has experience of AL31 FP...

Let me rephrase my previous reply: HAL is primarily a production unit with some organic design and research capability. HTFE 25 and HTSE1200 are based on established technologies, i.e. HAL did not research the core tech used in those engines. It designed those engines, tested them and will produce them. I am not sure how many production technologies they researched though. I believe they did research 3D printing applications. As far as Al31 is concerned, they did not even design that engine and just manufactured it, so the only time that experience can be counted on is when a completed Kaveri (K9 and K10) are given to them for production. Then what hal doing on htfe 25 and htse1200
They are. 6 will be delivered to IAF in 2018 itself15? And i was thinking that the initial 15 were already in production since a couple of months...
