Recently few weeks back, LCH had got a Small order of 15 units from Indian Army and Indian Airforce. Out of these 15 units, 5 will be for Indian Army and remaining 10 will be for IAF.

Two reasons

1. To protect the EO pod from damage and regular wear and tear to increase their operational life
2. Sometimes dummy pods are used especially during photo-ops or testing when EO pods are not needed

All EO pods have daylight image sensor (even full color depending on the pod). Other sensor (night-time image sensor) can be turned off if not needed. IR and UV sensors have appropriate band pass filters.
