Have you seen his "west using Goldilocks on India" speechJaishankar is one professional foreign minister , his tactics has given us some leverage whuch others can't provide , one the few minister needs mention in history
Nope, GoI does not spend money on perception management like the paki do. GoI does spend money on diplomatic events like inauguration buildings or building Gandhi statues or trade events or cultural events , but not on perception management like paki do per se.Too biased towards indian side imo.
Are we also investing in this kind of journalism like China and Pakistan?

In India’s case since national self interest is decided at a political level, there is a continuity break when a different political party comes to power. bureaucrats being bureaucrats play safe, because they don’t know if their next boss will agree with them or punish them with punishment posting.
i don’t think national self interest should be defined by politicians, since somebody new always come to power and they have their own electoral compulsions. We must move beyond the need for government babu directed perception games.
It's better to invest in new international oriented private establishments that can be controlled by pro india lobbies.
Take wion for instance.
It still needs more work and investment though.
These new private set ups can be made more credible by giving better accesss, info scoops and key interviews with government ministers etc.
I don't think it's a question about maturity in government or foreign policy, the whole political culture itself is very primitive and underdeveloped.
What stopped mudi from giving an interview to swarajya?
Not politicians. Political ideology.i don’t think national self interest should be defined by politicians,
let’s take US & QUAD as an example, it took a non-politician disrupter like trump to come to power to break the self imposed shackles on Afghanistan and China by their political establishment. Not politicians. Political ideology.
Already the Lutyens gang and Marxists control many of our media organisations.
There are several countries who see us as a valuable future partner. Several European politicians, mostly from the 'conservative' branches, identify and respect our needs -the ones who are labelled as 'far right radical', for merely questioning EU's wanton immigration laws that caused the Refugee Crisis, courtesy Angela Merkel.India Today wanted a sensational answer to bash Modi Govt, Danish PM didn't allow it.

Like you said the more our economy/paisa-power grows, the more these little foreign countries will pander to us provided we are assertive and throw our weight around. There are several countries who see us as a valuable future partner. Several European politicians, mostly from the 'conservative' branches, identify and respect our needs -the ones who are labelled as 'far right radical', for merely questioning EU's wanton immigration laws that caused the Refugee Crisis, courtesy Angela Merkel.
Nordic countries may have had some issues with us in the recent past, e.g. the ongoing issue of extraditing Kim Davy to India for his role in arming the Naxals, Sweden's needling of our internal matters like in 2019 (due to its several "peaceful" politicians, etc, however, these are too minor compared to the benefits these countries can get.
The bigger we become, the more others will pander to us. And given our core values and culture, we have enough goodwill to get away with these minor things, which are essentially the creation of Anglosphere's attempt to control us. Pretty sure that the Germanic countries (Nordics + Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands), France, the Iberians (Spanish, Andorrans & the Portuguese), and the Slavic nations have no problems with us.
We should do more to diversify our ties in Europe and focus on non-English speaking countries. This would reduce our political dependency on UK over time and keep our interests in check.
The Chinese don't lobby directly; but otherwise. Don't be surprised if BYD from China was to enter into a commercial agreement with Nordic countries for supply of 'green tech'. While it may be a humbuck given that China makes its own Li-Ion batteries for its own EV buses, but the market size of China would make Nordic countries salivate and go silent.Like you said the more our economy/paisa-power grows, the more these little foreign countries will pander to us provided we are assertive and throw our weight around.
Look at China, even without their lobbying efforts, foreign countries still wouldn't fuck with them about hooman raitas dramas.
Everyone is not Syed Akbaruddin or Dr Jaishankar.IFS babus are best of the lot. Do not be critical of them when you have nothing better to say.
