Forget about India, what about China . I heard that they have made ballistic missile to hit American carriers. Ofcourse accuracy is the problem but if you are firing 100s of missiles then it isn't.. carrier works only against smaller country. It will never work against China or Russia until USA have lasers... Finding Carrier is also quite easy if you are Russia/China. Both of them have variety and huge numbers of missiles to hit carriers. Frankly I don't think that Americans is gonna go war against Russia not even small skirmishes. With China things are a little bit different but still I don't think Americans will try there luck with China as things can get out of hand very quickly... Most probably carriers are for NK, middle East etc

We'll never know for sure how things will work out if war breaks out. Until then we can only hypothesize.

If cruise missiles like brahmos were good enough, china would've never created ballistic AShM. The YJ12 is equivalent to brahmos.
Because chinese want to able to hit US Carrier even farther from their shore. That's why they have gone ballistic route which might be less accurate than cruise missile but could reach even longer distance if necessary .

But Chinese aren't bothered about accuracy as they will too lob thousands of missile over Carrier.

And if there is a high likelihood of action the US military will first disable eneny radar sites that might threaten CBGs.
And how will it do that in case of India or China or even Russia. US military bases near these countries will be obliterated even before they could make a move and carriers will have to remain far away to be safe from anti carrier missiles .

Like I said before all these theories are good against small nations without advanced missiles. Against major powers they are duds.

They don't need to come close to the carrier. What I am saying is that to maintain the no fly zone of 3500 km, the hornets need to come to at least 200 km close to the shore, i.e. about at 3300 km away from the carrier otherwise the no fly zone simply cannot be enforced. Now I see that we had included the range of cruise missiles in the previous discussion and such a huge no fly zone simply cannot be maintained. So lets correct it shall we?

Super hornet radius is 1885 km + add the range of AMRAAM which gives us approx 2000 km radius of no fly zone. So to enforce it, SH must come upto a distance of 200 km from shore or 1800 km away from the carrier. That is where the MKIs will pick them up. If Hornets won't travel such a long distance, then it simply means that 2000 km of no fly zone does not exist since AWACS would still be able to fly in that area with impunity. And you are adding other assets like the Burke, they will face the same problem, in order to realistically target MKIs at 200 km away from shore, they need to be at most 450 km away from the shore which will again bring them in range of coastal defence Brahmos batteries, not to mention, IN surface ships as well.

The simple fact is, American CBG strategy only works where air-superiority by American carrier fighters is assured. When fighting large countries like India, it simply cannot be, and hence the carrier can be targeted. If you have read some articles on how the chinese aim to take down americans in south China see, they are betting on their 5th gen fighters to achieve air superiority against the F35C.
There is no need for a flight zone with 3500 km radius around the carrier. Besides, No flight zone are not enforced before the extended range strike of strategic target are done. You see that all the time in Lybia, gulf war.. etc, the first strike are from tomahawk or agm-86 attacking radar station, air base, command center..etc. Then come SEAD with MALD, ITALD, HARM ...etc. Combat air patrol are done much later.

While that certainly makes a very attractive title for tabloid and yellow journalism. The article missing the most important details to make it worth
1- Was the so-called detection confirmed? like by visual or by shooting down an F-35? Nope. So the fact is that it could be an F-35 but it could also be MALD or MALD-J or even ALE-55, ALE-50 in the work. And realistically speaking it could even be the product of ALQ-184

2- Let say they actually detect the F-35. What was the distance?. Stealth aircraft are not mean to be invisible, they are low observable. So that they can attack target before they are detected. Technically speaking, even Mig-21 radar can detect F-35, however, the distance it can detect F-35 is tactically irrelevant. So simply saying we detect some F-35 doesn't actually mean a lot.

3- Did these F-35 carry Luneburg lens? enough said

4- From what aspect did they detect these F-35? from frontal aspect that a good achievement, but from the side ? not so much.

5- What was the type of radar used? fire control radar or OTH early warning radar?

....etc
You are right.
But you know that every body work on solutions to detect stealth planes. Even the Israelis explained some years ago that stealth will vanish in a medium futur (5 to 10 years).
Maybe it's just a fake news, maybe not.

High-flyers Rafale, F-35 Lightning in for touchdown at Defence Expo

LUCKNOW: Rafale fighter jet from French company Dassault Aviation, and F-35 Lightning II of US defence manufacturer Lockheed Martin, will be among major attractions of the DefExpo-2020, slated to be held in Lucknow from February 5-8.
According to Indian Air Force (IAF) officials, Rafale jet will form a part of the French and US arsenal which will be on displayed in Hall 1 of the Expo.

Lockheed Martin, American manufacturer of some of the world’s most sophisticated fighter jets, is also expected to showcase its products in Hall 2. Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, fifth-generation combat aircraft, will have an entire pavilion to itself.

Artillery and ammunition from Israel, known for its high-end military power, will also be on display in the Expo. A separate section has been earmarked for Israel’s ministry of defence while a dedicated pavilion has been kept aside for defence companies from Israel.

The list includes RADA, specialists in defence electronics, ORBIT, a missioncritical communication solutions for land, sea, air and space applications, and Israel Aerospace – an aviation manufacturer which makes aerial and astronautic systems for both military and civilian usage.
In addition, defence players from South Africa, Russia, Bulgaria and Australia will also display their assets.

Indian giants Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) will also rub shoulders with the best foreign companies in defence manufacturing. Private defence companies including Adani Defence systems will also participate in the event. Officials engaged in preparations said more than 500 companies have registered for the expo.

Aim120 D is what fills the role for meteor until LREW and Aim260 come into production.
What is area equipped aam?
The question was about 'capability' rather than if it 'exists' or not.
AIM120D can't match Meteor.
AIM is lighter and has to carry fuel and oxidizer when Meteor is 25% heavier and has free oxidizer so a full load of fuel.... The difference in range and NEZ is not small.

Is this some kind of Marketing by lockheed Martin.

I mean do then even want to sell the f-35 or are they simply bringing it to India.

They don't have to display the jet it already has enough orders and even more on the line so why bring it to our expo what do you think guys.

Who knows , maybe USA knows that they will not get the order for 114 aircrafts. But I doubt India will buy f35 . Secondly I don't even know the authenticity of this news..

I think even f35 may not be a true dog fighter compared to other 4th gen, but for us its a golden Chance, if we buy f35 for110 fighter spot we can take the role which Turkey left and we can also have local production, in amerki eyes one more local production in Asian zone can make the f35 sales much more effective than f16 ones, like Singapore ,Malaysia etc they are Right bet for future costumers , for India the Infra and high skilled labour training and some tot with vast access to ameriki air ordinance and technology which will help us out amca program a lot

Who told you that? Chinese didn't choose supersonic cruise missile at the time because:
1. In last 90s, the defense technologies have improved to such level that in order to penetrate defense circle, you need to throw at 2-3 waves of Supersonic CM within 2 minutes and each wave includes almost 100 CM from multiple directions. Obviously, Chinese lack the quality and quantity of the suitable platform in the air and sea.

2. Supersonic is simply not fast enough to crack Aegi system.

But Chinese aren't bothered about accuracy as they will too lob thousands of missile over Carrier.
Firstly, who told you that Chinese aren't bothered about accuracy? With 40m CEP, their missiles are accurate enough to hit a giant US carrier. The problem is keep tracking the carrier and the maneuvering after re-enter. The recent show of their systems/technologies suggest that they may have the answer.

Secondly, Chinese doesn't have thousands of missile for carrier, not even hundreds.

Air force chief has said that 5th generation aircraft will be indigenous.. it's just a marketing techniques from Lockheed Martin may be Vivek lalla told them to do it but I hardly doubt that LM will offer f35 .

You might want to go through these.

F-35 sensors help ground interceptors engage “air-breathing” targets

The work took place at White Sands Missile Range in December 2019, according to Lockheed Martin. A pair of US Air Force F-35s were integrated with the US Army’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS), with the fighters “providing an airborne sensor capability to successfully detect, track and intercept near simultaneous air-breathing threats.”

The aircraft and IBCS were connected through the Multifunction Advanced Data Link (MADL) in the proof of concept activity. It marked the first time F-35s were used as sensors during an IBCS live fire test against multiple targets.

The company did not state the size of the targets engaged, but such a capability would prove useful against low flying targets such as cruise missiles.

The work also demonstrated a way to engage low-flying threats that are over the horizon or terrain masked.

I have my sources. I know a thing or two about accuracy .
