Under fire to improve, OFB ships 11 million bullets to US market | Nagpur News - Times of India

Nagpur: The Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) has despatched 11 million rounds of 5.56x45mm (M193) caliber bullets to the US on Thursday. It’s the same caliber of ammunition used in the 5.56 Insas assault rifles, which the Indian Army is phasing out. The bullets supplied to the US are of NATO specification, making it slightly different from that used is the country, said sources.

The Insas rifle too is made by the ordnance factories and is the first indigenous assault rifle.

US may use these rounds to arm its al-qaeda off shoot pals in Syria.. :bplease: Saket Gokhale would then be like.. Mudi is arming Al qaeda...

Kinetix Engineering, having selected as a Designated Agency by Indian Army for development of Maneuverable Expendable Aerial Target (MEAT), is getting ready for final integration and flight trials, in association with its International partners Air Affairs Australia and PBS Engines (Czech Republic). Having obtained Industrial License for manufacture of UAVs from DPIIT of Government of India, Kinetix Engineering is also gearing up for production manufacturing of UAVs and Jet Engines in India under governments Make-in-India policy.
Another import while we get awed by the pics from drdo....either we are no where ready as we think with some of these things or its corrupt bastards preserving their middlemen cuts....

Britian offers India a joint venture for developing Meteor MK-2 AAM. MBDA -UK already in a JV with Japan for developing Meteor variant for Japanese F-35.
And, what will happen to SFDR? if it is consultation type then it's good.
Problem will be UK and in lieu USA knowing our secrets, need to watch out.

West goodies can turn very soar very fast.

Their senators openly say SELLING WEAPONS is A TICKET TO INFLUENCING the concerned nation.

This is true everywhere. You can't thumb your nose to your major arms supplier and will to a point have to accommodate their geopolitical interests. The day India starts exporting lethal platforms you will see this happening with India as well.

Strike it down. No need. DRDO is mighty close to realising SFDR technology in A2A missiles and seeker tech already exists (and will get exponentially better in another 3-5 years time). With entire IP of the SFDR residing within Indian companies, we have a winner in our hands and no need to tie up for Meteor.

Meteor MK2 is just a JV proposal.

Several such JV proposals are floated every time there is a bilateral summit, but rarely anyone of them succesfully materialize. Remeber the pomp around signing of DTTI and its failure, because US refused to transfer any technology?
Similar fate awaits Meteor MK2 and the 110 KN JV engine proposal.

Nobody would have made us such an offer had we not conducted successful SFDR tests. These offers mostly come after we've already succeeded or are about to succeed in developing a piece of military technology.
