NGARM is dual pulse propulsion

AFAIK there is no such thing as rudram1

Rumours of ngarm as rudram1 was started in BR

I have seen rudram1 sanctioned in 2014, expected trial start date was 2017 in a drdo project list.ng-arm also sanctioned in 2014 and started trial in 2017. Rudram1 is series name and ngarm is role name of same missile.secondly ,how can their be rudram2,3 without rudram1?

And then you answered it yourself

I have not come across the same , but if what you said is true , then what difference does it make ?

Project name is a placeholder during R & D phase

After development finished then formal naming is done

During R & D stage rudram1 might have been the project name , which is irrelevant now , since entering trial stage the missile official name is NGARM.

Same will most probably happen with rudram2/3

Only commonality between the 3 missiles is all 3 are air to surface missile.

IMO no point wasting time over all these

What we really need is IR guided cruise missile for long range strikes on land target. But I don't think we have anything like Harpoon IR, or IR NSM, or IR guided Scapel missile

IR guided cruise missile can be fooled at terminal point by countermeasure flame...chinese army deployed dedicated flame thrower brigade for fooling this type of missile...so,our nirbhay will have x band sar seeker,which is weather and countermeasure proof

Both of them superficially look same but note the tail fins , they are different.

Looks like a two stage Missile similar like Brahmos . Design looks compatible for air launching . But why we need another Airlaunched Missile , we already have Brahmos , Nirbhay can also be used . Ranges is Inferior to Brahmos .


May be For versatility of Weapons , If Rudram 3 is Hypersonic then its really cool , but we need to increase the range to minimum 1000 . To hit Deep inside China

If you want a subsonic missile for that range,then we have nirbhay but if you want supersonic then only option pulse detonation engine powered cruise missile..tbrl working on pde but pde is highly unstable u.s. also worked on it but maybe they haven't encouraged by the result...we can only hope tbrl get success to it's ambitious effort

Just a suggestion bro With modification of missile. Russian Khinzal Missile has 2000Km range . We need atleast 1000 ,500 is enough for porks but not Chinkies

The stated range of kinzal is a gimmic,they are adding half range of mig-31/tu-22 with the actual missile range and saying it as kinzal range...just a pr stunt...actual range of kinzal is about 400-500 km..

Unsteady processes, including unsteady compression system exhaust effects, entrance valve losses (sudden expansion), internal combustor losses (wall friction, heat transfer, protuberance drag), combustor exhaust valve losses, and unsteady, nonuniform expansion system entrance effects. There is also concern about the power density that can be achieved.

These PDEs will be very useful in Below Mach 4 cruise Missile . If TBERL succeed in developing . Some other institutions are also researching in this area.
