Short Time Of Flight.

The tests we did for depressed trajectory were for those. We could use even a 5k range missile to attack a much nearer target at say 1.5 or 2k km. We don't need to launch them in a lofted trajectory for that.

Interestingly, even the K4 was tested for the same last time.
Yeah

And velocity termination device helps in that.
All solid fuel missiles incorporates this for the very same reason.

Explain this................
Guy, the thruster with pointing in tangent dir are roll-control thruster, and yeah, look at your own Agni pic - two sets of thrusters, 4 orthogonal to the surface, 4 tangential, same as in the KELTEC pic. Size is irrelevant because there is no reference to determine the size of the KELTEC thingy. Thruster-size depends on the requirement. In some cases, these roll-thrusters are used for steering the vehicle (yes, in conjunction with the larger main-motors, even inside the atmosphere)

And good find with the Agni pic. There was a pic of the assembly of Agni-3/5, do you have it?

Kalyani ULH in the foreground.
The one in the middle seems to be another variant of the same. Not sure.

In the background a new truck mounted artillery gun from Kalyani. The truck seems to be tatra truck from BEML.

A 155x39 truck mounted gun system will be very useful in the mountains and high altitudes.

Shoot and scoot in the literal sense

There should be atleast two vendors qualified per tender per weapon category, else it will lead to a single vendor situation and tender will be automatically cancelled.

I Dunno about how imported army works or what do they think in their superstitious mind sometimes they want a 4 seater tank which way less than 40 tons sometimes some other things and different bla bla.
Sometimes we can pay 2.3 billions to Russia for T-90 Tank tot and what not.

I think we should totally ban foreign companies to take part in categories were we have indigenous equipments.
Saurav jha few months back claimed that if indian army now starts import of some new artillery guns for any reason then he thinks that their is no point for lobbying in support development of indigenous equipments.

A picture explains much better than words and importantly the devil lies in the details .

You are suffering from cognitive bias in this particular case , as we all do time to time due to lack of information , limited perception etc.

Anyways my last post on this topic.

It’s not like forces are not telling private companies their requirements.

There is a compendium of problem statements that IA releases and religiously tracked and followed up. It’s available on Indian army website in make in India section. Latest compendium is released in jan 2020. Once a year IA also releases their requirements for domestic industry via ficci. if private industry is not giving them solutions the required time frame, IA has no choice but to procure from outside.

In our discourse we look at big items and form such opinions, fact of the matter is IA is giving advance notice and only going for FMS if they have no other choice.

Let’s not forget, it’s been only 5 years of focus on domestic defence companies. It takes time to build a MIC.

"Load-bearing bolts", that's your logic? Ever seen a post-boost vehicle? They all look like that. As of the soviet SLBM reference, there was a mistake in annotations in that image.
This is the same missile you referred to, the R-31, a tech-demonstrator, never entered service.

P.S. There is a reason I asked you for those Agni-3/5 pics.

You want me to pen my entire " logic " on a small sized pic ?

Those who are informed on the same will understand what i meant . Can't spoon feed .

Those are sockets to hold the exhaust appendage though bolts. Corollary they also act as load bearing points .

When you hang something from a socket through a bolt , that point becomes the load bearing point. Incase you didn't know.

Anyways
Nearest civilian analogue will be the shape of exhaust found in certain specialised Ullage motors ( used in civilian applications ) , where the exhaust appendage is perpendicular to the motor. The exhaust portion is bolted in to hold it against the load due to thrust being produced and aerodynamic loads also.

Lol
You dig your own grave , note the pic you posted , on the nose of the slbm ( tractor ring ) , there is a no of thrusters with similar application ( one can kind of take the liberty of calling them military versions of ullage motors ) arranged around the circumference . In kfour only difference it was applied in interstage 2/3 and replaced by optimised and less no thrusters ( 4 ) for propelling K4 and possibly with secondary role of trajectory shaping.

Sir believe what you or anybody wants , i am out of this discussion . It was a mistake to get involved in the 1st place something which i generally avoid

I could be right or you could be right or both of us could be wrong . No point stretching it.

For the love of 33 crore gods, the thing on the nose of that missile isn't thrusters. Look, look closer, zoom in

This particular missile in question used a gas generator located at the base of the missile which was used to eject the missile out of water. The "thing on the nose" created a curtain of air-bubble around the missile. Again, no "tractor thrusters.".
As of K-4, remember, the video cuts exactly before the main-stage ignites. THINK. The only place they could have mounted tractor thrusters without increasing missile length was above the reentry vehicles. Just like Soviet missiles.
K-15 DOES NOT use tractor thrusters.

Imagine, you are the one designing K-4. There is a severe length constraint. You are given two possibilities, where would you mount a tractor thruster and would you carry it (basically dead-weight once missile leaves water) all the way through boost phase? Ignore the rest of the missile.

Once bitter twice shy
Ain't gonna take the bait :tongue2:

And lastly there are no 33 crore gods in Sanatan Dharma. The word koti in 'trayastrimsati koti' does not mean the number '33 crore' or '330 million'. Here koti means 'supreme', pre-eminent, excellent, that is, the 33 'supreme' divinities.

It was a problem even in AD 725 when Subhakarasimha and his Chinese colleague I-hsing translated the Mahavairocana-sutra into Chinese. They rendered the compound sapta-koti-buddha as shichi (sapta) kotei (koti) butsu (buddha) in which they did not translate the word koti that transliterated its pronunciation as kotei. The Buddhas were not 'seven crore', but only 'Seven Supreme Buddhas': six predecessors and the historic Buddha.
